We subscribe to NYT, too, which I think is pretty liberal, and I also listen to NPR although I think it is insanely liberal. When I spent my junior year of college abroad, I actually felt much better informed about American news because it was more balanced and less sensational. That's one coffee a month.</p> <p>NYtimes usually has deals too. They are my number one go to source and I agree with @hummusgirl that it is my patriotic duty to pay for news. When I find reporters I really like, I follow them on Twitter. The really great ones don't only share their own stories, they share what other people write that interests them. Sometimes it's just within their organization, but sometimes it's also with other outlets. </p> <p>By doing that for several years, I've grown a larger pool that I get the news from. </p> <p>I don't care so much if it's slightly left or right as long as the outlet themselves is aware of that and embraces it.
