@Mrs. D: That's too bad. I'm sure you were disappointed. My great, great uncle fought and died in WWI. As long as I can remember, either my dad or I would lay a wreath for him, and we always attended the parade in our town, no matter the weather (once I was a little older; babies/toddlers got a pass in really bad weather). My husband and I brought our 7-month-old to his first parade today. Of course he's too young to know anything, but it will be something we will continue to do, especially since DH and I are both still serving RCAF members.

My husband got home late last night and was too tired from a long week away for work to get on the go this morning for services.

It's now officially Remembrance day in Nova Scotia.

To my family it's a day you make a point of treating right.

Both of my Grandfathers were in the Services. One was RCAF (airforce), and the other was Navy. Both were too young to have served during WW2, but both spent their entire careers in various peacekeeping missions, and for the one in the airforce, on missions he wasn't allowed to tell my grandmother about.
My father-in-law also served in the Navy, which thankfully he did, because my husband and I would never have met if his dad hadn't been stationed here in jr. high and high school.

If it's not raining too much we'll be taking our daughter to the cenotaph for the Remembrance Day ceremony, even though I don't think she'll really get it.

Every year I listen to this song and post it to my wall. Take a listen:
