I bathe LO in the big tub. I started doing it sometimes at two months, now at four months it is all the time, although I only bathe him every three days or so to prevent dry skin. LO sits on my lab in the tub during washing time. It is more fun for both of us, and doesn't hurt my back like bending over him does.

@Pepper: nope, I lay her on her back, then prop her up to wash her hair and back (like burping on your lap kinda), then back down to rinse and wash the rest of her.

@skipra: Ahh not looking forward to him trying to climb out!

@Espion: Oh no, hopefully he'll grow to love it... Or at least tolerate it!

@NurseMommy: Do you just hold her up the whole time? I'm sure LO will love that... the more water the better.

@Elderberrygin: That's a great idea. Thanks!

We kept it in until she was able to sit up unsupported, but she's a peanut so it wasn't a big deal. Maybe you could put some of those adhesive, anti-slip decals on the bottom?

We just started bathing our LO in our tub around 4 months. It was easier, she loves it, and it works for us.

My solution so far is a baby who hates baths. The number of baths we've given him so far is...embarrassing. But he seriously hates them.

We have the same tub. Once DS started going over the stopper we removed it. It was a while ago but I don't think he was sitting up yet so we just put in less water.
We took him out of the tub completely once he started trying to climb out. It didn't take long to go from squirming over the stopper to climbing out.

@Pepper: yes, her arms don't move much but the tub looks so much bigger now. I figure she will be sitting up on her own soon enough. She's discovered kicking the water vigorously since Saturday also.

@swedishfish: That's what C does too! That's a good idea... letting him lay back without it. Is R super wide in there too? He can barely splash his arms when he's laying back!

We removed it a while ago and then put it back in. DH just removed it on Saturday again. R lays against the back and we watch her like a hawk. She likes to stretch her legs out to the front of the whale now, ha.

We have this Fisher Price whale tub, and LO has been using it since he was a few weeks old. He's now almost 6 months, and he's really outgrowing it with the infant stopper in there. He arches his back over it and tries to slide down. He's also so wide in there, he doesn't have a lot of room to move his arms in that position.

He's getting pretty good at sitting up, but he still topples over unless he's in the tripod position. I'd like to remove the insert, but should they be able to sit up completely unassisted before doing that? I'd have to hold him upright the whole time. How did you handle bathtime at this age?
