My mom used to take some of the presents out of the box and display it/set it up under the tree! Like one year she set up an electric train she bought us around the tree and another year she set up a huge dollhouse with all the furniture and stuff! It was fun! I plan on doing the same for my LO.

@mediagirl: Having spent one Christmas opening countless boxes of toys and their seemingly endless accessories, all of which were, of course, individually attached to some part of the packaging in such as way as to require scissors and/or pliers to remove for my nieces . . . yeah, I will do as much as I can beforehand!

I mentioned this in another thread, but yes, we unbox and assemble.

Prob going to do this! My brother ordered a wagon walker and we assembled it last night. Maybe we will stick a bow on it when we place it under the tree.

haha I was just thinking about this! I think I'm going to do that with a few items because I don't want her to start playing with all her gifts at once.

What do you think about taking gifts (like dolls or cars or trains) out of their packaging and wrapping them up without it for Christmas? This is for your own lo. I'm thinking that would be easier than her opening a box, then getting frustrated because she can't get to it's contents...anyone else?
