@Bluemasonjar: it's so hard to know they have ear infections a lot of the time! at least once it's ruptured they're not usually in pain.

I did make an ENT appointment for a couple weeks out. The nurse we saw today said he probably has a lot of fluid back there most of the time, post nasal drainage that we just can't see. I'm not super jazzed for more tubes but I definitely don't want fluid affecting his hearing so if the ENT recommends we'll do it. It was miraculous how much it helped when he was one!

My DS (8 months) had his ear drum rupture over the weekend. He had some congestion but no signs of an infection until I saw his ear draining. Turns out he has a double ear infection. I felt terrible!

If your LO had tubes previously they may need to put in a new set. I would go back to the ENT since he has a history.

No experience, but i hope your son feels better soon and you are able to get in quickly to the ENT if the ped recommends it

Anyone have this happen? My son just had his second rupture in 4 months. I haven’t talked to pedi yet. Both times we had no heads up on the ear infection until it was nearly ruptured/draining (he did wake up in pain last night). He had tubes from 1-2.5ish but then seemed much better on infections.

I know a rupture isn’t a big deal, but wondering whether it could affect his hearing over time and whether we need to see the ENT. I’ll ask pedi but thought I would check for experience here too! :silly:
