I was actually looking at a website for tall parents, since my husband is 6'8", and they said the Chicco was the best stroller for tall people since the handle is adjustable and they won't have to worry about kicking it as they walk behind it. Sure, it's a little more bulky than I would like, so we'll probably get a smaller one for when we travel.

Bummer about the Chicco! That Britax system does look nice, though.

@MH.Abroad: I love my travel system. It makes it very easy to put a baby that fell asleep in the stroller into the car. And the stroller really isn't that heavy. I go out and handle the stroller, baby, and 65lb dog by myself without a problem.

@Navy_Mommy: that's weird I had my baby in the summer in Florida and never had an issue. In fact it still feels like summer here!

Ooh, I love the City Mini from what I've seen of it. I don't have it myself, but when I saw it I thought it was fantastic. Heard good things from friends too.

@c.sassy: Sooooo jealous! I'm still adjusting to living in the boondocks, we've only been here since August. Before that I lived in Pittsburgh - a small city, but a city nonetheless.

@Navy_Mommy: I went to this ridiculous (in the best way) baby store called Great Beginnings in Gaithersburg, MD. So... probably not accessible from the middle of nowhere :) The Babies R Us closest to me had both the City Mini and the Britax, so maybe yours will too!

Pros of both strollers:
-Lightweight. They're both about 17 pounds. Easy to carry around and easy to steer with one hand.
-Easy to fold. Both have a super easy one-hand fold that would be easy to do with a baby in the other hand (I tried this out while holding a friend's baby:)
-Can use with most major carseats (adaptor needed)
-Large canopy

Why the Britax stole my heart:
-Storage. The Britax has a larger and much more easily accessible storage basket
-Automatic lock. The Britax locks automatically when you fold it. The Citi Mini will lock, but it takes a little effort and probably two hands (unless you're way more coordinated than I am). I felt like it was easier to throw in the car with it locked.
-Sturdier seat.
-Cheaper. 'Nuff said.
-Fabric. This is definitely a personal thing, but I felt that the fabric of the Britax was nicer. Granted, the Citi Mini has more color choices.

I hope that helps a little!

I have had and adored the Chicco with the Easy Traveler frame by Maclaren. If you do any amount of traveling, I definitely advise against a travel system!

@artbee: Chicco systems are out for me; the car seats are VERY hot for babies and it gets well over 100 degrees where I live in the summer (when my baby will still be in the infant car seat) and on top of that the interior of my car is black. Anyone near me who has gotten a Chicco carseat has had to get a new one because their baby gets way too hot really quickly.

@MegWag: Right now my favorites aren't actually "travel systems" they're strollers with car seat adapters (like the city mini). I just call it a travel system because it's simpler that way.

So much of it comes down to personal preference, I'll just be so upset if I end up HATING what I chose and having to buy something else!

@Navy_Mommy: I am so with you on this! This is probably my biggest source of stress when it comes to baby-related stuff. I've had equal number of people advise against a travel system (a la MH.Abroad) and others say it's invaluable, so I think that's down to personal choice. I'm putting all this pressure on myself to get it right so that we don't waste money and end up buying something else in 6 months.

@c.sassy: Right now, the city mini is my top contender. What baby store did you go to? I live kinda in the middle of nowhere, and the CLOSEST baby store is Babies R Us, and that's even 45 minutes away, which is why I'm trying to do as much research as possible before I actually go "test drive" anything.

I wanted something that was safe and looked pretty. :) Decided on a Peg Perego Sip 30/30. My LO's tall for her age so we upgraded her to the Britax Advocate 70 cs at 7 months.

I went to a local baby store that carries almost every stroller imaginable and tried them all out. And I talked to their "stroller expert" and he had enough info to keep me there for about an hour and a half. I had asked many, many friends, but this guy's help in comparing them all was so needed!

I think it depends on where you live and your lifestyle. We ended up deciding on the Britax B-Agile. We spend half our time in the 'burbs and the other half in the city, so we needed something that could handle both. I like the B-Agile because it has the wheels for Capitol Hill's bumpy sidewalks, but is light enough that I wouldn't mind taking it in and out of the car with one hand. If Baby #2 comes while Sneakers is still stroller aged, we'll probably upgrade to the B-Ready.

And another note, I have many, MANY friends that rave about the City Mini. The City Mini and City Select are pretty much the same as the B-Agile and B-Ready, but the few differences come down to personal preferences.

Well, take this with a grain of salt, but from a crazy researcher that doesn't have a baby yet - I've read that a travel system isn't usually the best option. A car seat with a snap and go frame, plus another stroller for serious use, is easier. Just because the strollers that go with travel systems are crazy heavy to haul around. But, I have heard really good things about the Graco Literider, if you do want a travel system though.

Seriously - THERE ARE TOO MANY OPTIONS! lol

And what's worse is I have a pretty good idea of what my priorities are, so I didn't think it would be this overwhelming! But the hardest part is my Mom and sisters are giving us our travel system (which is amazing) but I can't get a real answer on a budget. So I don't have any specific price point to research! When I ask them, their response is, "well, just be reasonable, but make sure our grandson/nephew is safe!"

How did you decide on a car seat and stroller? What did you end up deciding on and what were your top priorities?

Thanks so much!
