@krispi: I second the Valentin Imperial Maya! DH and I actually got engaged there, and we're going back again for what will be (hopefully!) a babymoon/family trip in December. It's such a beautiful resort!

Aruba or Curaçao might be a good choices since it will be Hurricane season and they are below the hurricane belt. I think Curaçao requires a connecting flight, but Yiu can find direct flights to Aruba from many East coast cities. I haven't ever been to Aruba, but we went to neighboring Curaçao on our honeymoon. We stayed at a Hyatt there and chose to have just breakfast included, but it was so huge, we just ate a big brunch everyday and then bought dinner. When we went 4 years ago it was pretty new and very reasonable ($130-150 per night for ocean view with breakfast). Curaçao is an excellent choice of you love snorkeling and/or
Scuba diving. I don't think Aruba's snorkeling is quite as good, but supposedly they have nicer beaches and more resorts than Curacoa. My friend goes to the Hyatt in Aruba every year but I think it's expensive.

We have been to El Dorado Seaside Suites in Playa del Carmen twice and love it. Adults only with awesome food and beautiful. We have been swimming with dolphins, snorkeling and the pyramid tour arranged by the hotel. They also added a beautiful spa that I had to tear myself away from.

Valentin Imperial Maya near Cancun and Playa del Carmen. We went there for our honeymoon and LOVED it. Based on our recommendation, some of our best friends are planning their first kid-free trip there in January. (We're jealous!)

A few years ago we went to the Bahia Principe (Punta Cana) and stayed in the adults only section. It was beautiful and relaxing, a pretty good price in my opinion, and since the whole resort was so large there was a lot to do (pools, restaurants, etc) but you could also retreat to the adults section for a more quiet experienc.

I know some other bees have been here too; we went to Excellence Playa Mujeres in Cancun (flew direct from NY). Amazing! Beautiful resort, all-inclusive, it's far away from the popular areas so the beach is like a private beach. And Cancun has so much do that you can easily book any kind of excursion you want.

For a reasonably priced all-inclusive I think your best bet will be Mexico (Cancun/Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen). Not sure about stuff off-site to do. Maybe see the Mayan ruins?

We loved Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica, it was adults only, clean, great food, and plenty of things to do off resort (but also a ton of stuff to do on!)

Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced all inclusive type of place for our first vacation without the kids? It will be November and since we only have about 5 days, ease of flights (from the east coast) and shorter trips are also important factors. Bonus factor would be somewhere interesting to explore outside of the hotel/resort.

Any recommendations are appreciated!
