We have a cover and that helped a lot. When we first started, we had to tuck a couple of blankets by his sides when we put him shopping carts. I tried the shopping cart about a week after she was sitting up but it proved to be too much too soon. She was worn out by the end of the short trip. So I waited a few weeks to try again.
