Yep Magnesium for me too. I took it in tablet form, helped immensely with restless legs, as well as the migraines that were plaguing me during pregnancy. If you do take it in tablet form be careful not to take too much as it can have a bit of a laxative effect. One tablet every two days was enough for me.

I have awful awful RLS whether I’m pregnant or not. The thing that has helped the most is using a magnesium oil spray religiously every evening. I use this one: Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil (8 oz.) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AD0HL8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Tf5zAbR5RXJ9W
I do 4 squirts on each leg. It does burn a bit for the first couple days but then your skin gets used to it. I hardly ever have a bad night now. Also, drinking lots of water and cutting my sugar intake helps too. And hamstring and seated piriformis stretches. Good luck, it’s the worst.

I found that a hot shower before bed really helped me.
It was a huge lifestyle change at the time - showers always help to wake me up and I can only style my hair when wet!
But it was the only thing that helped calm my legs down enough to sleep. I would take my normal shower in regular warm water, then crank it up and let it run very hot down my legs, focusing on my calves.

Around the same time, I started taking B12 and Iron (both were slightly low due to plant based diet) and I've continued to take them - I notice that when I forget to take my vitamins for a few days then my legs act up again. (I'm 13mo post partum) I think there is some minor link between restless legs and minerals, so maybe ask your OB about checking your levels?

Good luck!

Sometimes if DH rubs my feet and calves really well before I go to bed it will help. Sitting up in the recliner is all that helps when it gets really bad. Usually I end up getting up and walking around a bit, doing calf stretches, and going to bed with heat on them. Nothing has cured it totally. There seems to be some magic amount of activity that I need to reach during the day (not too little, not too much) to avoid them.

I'm 28 weeks and going out of my mind with restless legs at night. I've tried being more active, stretching, heating pad, cutting out caffeine entirely....any other tips? I'm getting maybe 3 hours of sleep a night and am at my wits end.
