@Mae: well I don't mind the restlessness, but she doesn't go back to sleep. I give her about 10 min and it always turns into crying. But like her eyes never open....but she's crying. So I don't know.
And she does it all.night.long.
@spaniellove: yeah I thought it was the reflux maybe, but not sure! She just seems so uncomfortable. Reflux sucks!
@LuLu Mom: yes, we have her mattress at an incline. It worked for 1 night(not as restless), but still having problems.
@Mamasig: I wish she would just be restless, but she always starts crying after while. If I pick her up, we try to nurse, she nurses for maybe 2 min, falls back asleep. Back into crib, restlessness begins again after 10-15 min and then continues until she cries.

My little boy is also very restless - wiggles, grunts, etc. I wait for a real whine or cry. I'm getting used to his little noises.

My daughter was a restless sleeper (still is as a toddler) but she was always still asleep not awake. DD was a reflux baby too, have you tried elevating the crib at all? We put a rolled up towel under the mattress to give it a slight incline and that did wonders for her sleeping/reflux? She slept like that for over a year.

I thought I'd respond because we seem to have similar struggles with the reflux! LO is a very noisy sleeper even though he's not necessarily waking up other than to feed. I think he's having a hard time with his reflux; sometimes I hear him gagging, clearing his throat, coughing, snoring, etc. Sometimes he's just plain spitting up and unhappy about it.

What happens if you just let her wiggle? My LO has been a pretty wiggly little worm since about 6 or 7 weeks. She'd go to bed okay and then around 3 or 4 am she'd start grunting and kicking and writhing in bed. But not wake up. I used to get her up because I thought she was hungry but then I decided to just leave her be and see what happens. Generally she kicks around for 10-15 min then falls into a deeper sleep again for an hour or two. I don't even roll over when she starts up now. I pretty much wait for an actual whine because that generally means she's awake-- and ignore the grunting and rolling because it doesn't seem to bug her too much.

ETA: fia is a reflux baby too. so maybe thats just normal!

So, I just called my pediatrician and I am waiting for a call back, but thought I would ask the bees to get some different perspective! We have been putting O down to sleep at around 8:45-9:00ish. She does have acid reflux, but has been on the medication for almost 3 weeks and we have seen some improvement. So, we have been giving her the medication at 8:00, bath, pjs, nurse, sleep. She will sleep from about 9:00-11:30 or 12:00 am. After this, her sleep is SO very restless. Wiggling, turning her head, just can't seem to get comfortable. This has been going on for about 10 days now. We are averaging about 3 or 4 wake ups after that 12:00 wake up to just get her settled. Sometimes I try to nurse, but she doesn't seem hungry. She doesn't ever wake up, she just can't get settled and she seems so uncomfortable. So...what do you guys think this?
a) Her acid reflux flaring up and bothering her at night
b) gas pains? she does seem to fart a lot a night and all the wiggling makes me think gas.....but why is she so gassy?!?
c) overtiredness? She wakes up from a nap around 5:30-5:45ish. We have to give her the Nexium at 8:00, so bedtime is naturally around 8:45 because she can't eat for 30 minutes. So, sometimes she will take a short cat nap around 7:00 for 20 or 30 minutes. I would like to push bedtime earlier, but she wakes up at 11:00 or 12:00 regardless of her bedtime at 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, we have tried it all. She always takes a MONSTER nap in the morning after her first morning wake up (we are talking like 2-2.5 hours). I think its just because she's so tired from all her crappy sleep in the night. Its like whatever is bothering her at night magically disappears by the morning. Her naps after the monster nap are usually 45 minutes.
d) restless sleep is normal for a baby! get over yourself and just face the facts that you are destined to only sleep 4 hours broken up all night. sleep is for the weak!
Okay, so that is my novel. Hope you guys have some advice? Oh, she's 14 weeks today, by the way!
