I think you did the right thing! There was nothing that to could have done differently to help this other woman out. It's an unfortunate situation and it wild have been great if there was more room, but it sounds like she was panicking unnecessarily. Glad you stood your ground!

Yeah, I totally felt bad for her daughter if anything. Hopefully she found a restroom and didn't have to deal with an accident.

@Mrsbells: Yeah, had she knocked politely and asked if anyone was using the toilet I would have let her in despite how crowded it was with a big shopping cart in there. I would like to think that I'm a sympathetic person. :)

Depending on my mood I might have opened the door and let her in if my other child wasnt actually using the toilet at the time. I woul tell her I'm changing my baby and if she doesnt mind to come in then her little girl could pee while I'm changing my baby.

I would have done what you did, but been very annoyed. I don't know why she thought her daughter's issue was more important than your children!

children will only learn from their parents and their parents behavior... good luck to them! you did the right thing by staying calm and collected in front of your kids. accidents do happen and unfortunately this mother should have been more prepared.

Geez. That's unfortunate for the other mom, but yelling at you was a waste of time. And clean underwear.

On the bright side, she wasn't far from a new, clean set of clothes for her LO!

I probably wouldn't have hurried either. But she was rude and if her kid really couldn't wait, she should have taken her to another restroom (since there were options). I think you did the right thing - sorry you had to endure that!

I probably would have hurried up just because I felt bad for her kid; how freaking rude, though!

@chopsuey119: Yeah, I would have just found another restroom. This BBB has two individual restrooms on their main level and a regular stall-type restroom on their basement level, I believe.

Dang. -.- I would have just taken my LO to the men's restroom if it was an emergency! Definitely wouldn't have rushed because some psycho mom was trying to get in. :P

When I went to BBB I think it was a normal bathroom with multiple stalls? It was long before LO was born so I don't remember!

I took my 3 m.o. and 3 y.o. to Buy Buy Baby today and half way through our shopping trip I had to take my 3 m.o. to change his very big poopy diaper. He was crying hysterically to get changed. Anyway, half way to through the change some frantic mom (like someone who would call 911) knocked on our bathroom door and kept trying to open it repeatedly b/c her daughter was about to pee onto her underwear. She was yelling at me. O.M.G... Seriously?! And then she kept telling me to hurry up repeatedly too. I told her someone was in the restroom twice and then had to tell her that I also have an infant and a toddler with me but she didn't care b/c she continued to knock profusely until I have no idea where she went b/c the noise finally stopped. It was very rude and annoying, actually. I didn't hurry up for her nor purposefully slow down to piss her off. I did what I had to do and then left the restroom. I was also trying not to scare my kids.

She must have JUST started potty training her daughter. I understand where she's coming from b/c I've been there. I get it. But she should have been prepared with extra clothes for accidents b/c accidents do happen. When I first potty trained my oldest he was in pull ups until he stopped wetting them when we went out. That was a sure sign he was ready to wear underwear outside of the house.

How would you have reacted if you were in my situation? My husband said that I should have just ignored her. I guess I kind of felt bad b/c I have kids but I just didn't like that she was yelling at me and telling me to hurry up even after I told her that I have two kids with me in the restroom.
