I tore my lateral meniscus in 8th grade and didn't get my knee scoped until 7 years later. PT wasn't fun at all, but was necessary to rebuild strength and muscle in my thigh. I think recovery wasn't too bad, about 3 months?

Wishing you a smooth operation and speedy recovery!

@blackbird: That's what I'm hoping!

@autumnlove: I'm sure he'll take good care of me, but I'm worried about him having to handle Miss Cranky Pants (aka DD) all by himself

@Mrs. Blue: LOL - that would be a nice perk, huh?

@spaniellove: That's good to know! My doctor didn't mention anything about PT but I'll definitely ask him about it at my pre-op appt on Monday.

@boiledpnut: :-( That's no good - sorry to hear that

Uh oh, will you need to wear leg brace and require physical therapy?! DH just had ACL repair surgery and the first few weeks were really tough! Not sure if what you're going to have is as bad, but hopefully not!! Good luck!

@BabyBoecksMom: A 6 week recovery is possible! You can do it! Granted, I was younger back then but I was cheerleading again with a few modifications in less than a month. Did they talk to you about PT of any kind afterward?

@BabyBoecksMom: I wish I knew! lol! I'm not a runner and I don't exercise excessively. It keeps happening on the same side too, so I'm not sure what they think they are going to do next. There's only so much you can cut out, right?

@BabyBoecksMom: I completely understand that! I've had 2 surgeries for tears and am looking at a third. Did they stitch up your meniscus previously or just cut out the tear?

@boiledpnut: Yes, from what they could see it's just a meniscus tear, but they're worried about scar tissue build up from the last surgery. *sigh* Last time it took me 6 months recovery, but they said it should only be 6 weeks this time before I'm back to exercising like I used to.

I injured my knee 11 years ago and had to have knee surgery. After that, I've been very active and workout *hard* 3-4 days a week. While I was pregnant, my knee started bothering me again, but I assumed it was due to everything loosening up. I waited to have an MRI until after I finished breastfeeding, but I wanted to get it done before the end of the year since I had met my deductible.

Well, it turns out that I have torn my cartilage again and have to have surgery to repair it... NEXT WEEK! I wasn't really prepared to hear that, or that I would get it done so soon. Even though I've been through it before, I'm still super nervous and a little scared.

Just wanted to vent - Thanks for sharing in my pity party :-)
