I agree with @bhbee that it may depend on your specific situation, but here’s my situation if you are interested:

I was supposed to do an IUI in early September but only ended up being able to do a medicated cycle due to timing. Was not expecting a BFP but got one anyway....however, it ended up being a blighted ovum and I miscarried two weeks ago.

These are my “next steps” as per my doctor:

1. Weekly bloodwork until my HCG levels reach 0. It’s been two weeks and my levels are at 34 (down from almost 19 000 just before my miscarriage).
2. When my HCG is 0, I can schedule an ultrasound to check for any retained tissue or other issues.
3. After my period returns, I have to have a sonohysterogram (this is a repeat test, as I already had one back in May before beginning fertility treatments).
5. After ALL of this, I think they may still want to monitor me again for one complete cycle before we can try an IUI.

So, it’s still going to be awhile before we can resume medicated and/or IUI cycles, which is frustrating, but there’s nothing I can do.

I hope you are able to try again sooner rather than later, and I wish you success in your journey.

I was scheduled to do a Clomid/IUI cycle after my first period came following a D&C. We did some bloodwork (not everything... just a few relevant hormone levels that you would do at the beginning of any cycle as the doctor was relying on the full panel of bloodwork that I sent him from another clinic months before my loss) and ultrasounds the day after my period started and found that I still had hcg lingering from the loss. I came in a couple days later (maybe around CD 5) and the hcg was still lingering (it was single digits at that point) so the doctor wouldn't let me proceed. I was really disappointed to not be able to start the IUI cycle but I did end up pregnant that cycle naturally so it all worked out in the end. They do say you have improved fertility after a loss, which was true for me.

I would think since you had the testing recently that you wouldn't have to do it all again. I was doing IUI protocols for approx. 5 mos and they didnt' make me retest at any time during those months....

@bhbee: Thanks. I'm hoping that's the case for me too.

It’s really hard to say with your individual dr but I don’t see why you couldn’t move ahead. I had an early miscarriage while doing IUIs and they just made me take a cycle off.

I was scheduled to start IUI in July, but I ended up getting pregnant on my own in June. I miscarried in August and I just emailed the RE to see what I would need to do to begin IUI again. Anyone have a similar situation? I went through so much testing and procedures earlier this year and I'm afraid they're going to want me to re-do it all. What is the likelihood they will let me jump right back in to IUI next cycle?
