@highwire: You're welcome - it's the only thing that ever works for me when people are being flaky. I honestly wouldn't even give her an explanation as to why, just give her a firm deadline and sound somewhat authoritative about it.

One thing you could try is giving her a deadline. Like send her an email that says "Hey I'm sorry to be such a pain about this, but I need the DVD's by next Friday. I'm totally fine coming by to pick them up just let me know what works for you".

I HATE it when people don't pay me back or return what they borrowed. So I totally feel for you.

I totally agree with @eeh about just stopping by if possible.

but - I would say to just make it about the discs at this point. she's clearly not responding to social offerings, and as an adult, she should be willing to give up someone else's dvd! that's just weird..

@JessLC: We work in a big suite of offices, so if she comes by and drops it off at the front, we'd never see each other. She lives in an apartment complex, so leaving it in the mailbox is not an option, although she can leave it at her front door and I can grab it, that is fine with me. I just need her help to make the arrangements.

If maybe she feels awkward about seeing you, can you suggest that she leaves it in her mailbox and you just swing by and pick it up? Maybe she feels embarrassed about how things went down and isn't ready to see you yet (not saying that you did anything wrong but she could be feeling reluctant about it and this would take that aspect away if it were the reason). And hopefully you'll get the DVDs back and however you decide to take the relationship from there is up to you. Btw I LOVED Lost and would feel the same way about them!

I can see maybe wanting privacy if you were just co-workers, but how you said she was one of the first to know about your PG and being friends outside of work makes it a little different than just co workers. So yeajh, just saying I feel bad your in this sitaution. Best of luck. I hope everything works out.

I was in a similar situation and let my coworker borrow Season 1 of The Wire. He left for a new job (with one day notice) so I texted him a few weeks later to ask about his new gig. After a few exchanges, I reminded him about the DVDs and he dropped them off a few days later.

Good luck!

I could understand why she wouldn't want to come back to the office just to return some DVD's. I would offer to pick them up from her (Hey, could you leave them on your front porch tomorrow in a plastic bag) or offer to meet in a neutral location (Lets grab coffee).
