@mrskc: I appluad you!!! Seriously! Our commonly accepted culture rejects this idea. Because of this so many moms refuse to accept reverse cycling & in return begin the slow end to their nursing relationship & so many moms & babies miss out. So go you for embracing the design!!! :)

As for your question, I'm a WAHM so I haven't had to completely rely on reverse cycling BUT we have embraced it through distracted daytime nursing, or lack there of, and nursing strikes! We still co-sleep & co-bed with a sidecar setup so even at 13 months night nursing is a norm of our life. It really is a fabulous option & I love it!!... If nothing else who doesn't like the extra snuggles?

I think it's so great that you're not letting it stress you out and just going with the flow! I was worried about this happening with us, so I totally stressed myself out by pumping extra to keep him full during the day because he was STTN when I went back to work. I can't really sleep well when he is in bed with us, though, and I'm usually wide awake while he nurses. For some reason, I need my boob out of his mouth in order to relax enough to sleep!

YES! and we co-slept for the same reason.
He would maybe drink 6-8 ounces while I was at work and then nurse when I got home and throughout the night. I gave up a pump at 9.5 months and we relied on my stash until around 11 months when he slowly stopped waking every 2-3 hours and then completely weaned. Bittersweet.
Even though it was exhausting I'm glad we got to breastfeed for that long with reverse-cycling.

Yes, and we coslept for that reason. We also didn't do it the same way (because of FTT) but he ate all night long until he was 16 months old. It is normal and I think you go with it as long as you are happy with it. I didn't have a problem as long as I could sleep too.

Yes, we cosleep for the same reason. Although more than reverse cycling, it's like constant cycling LOL. Because she doesn't NOT eat while I'm gone, but since I went back to work she started wanting to eat at night, too. At the beginning it was instead of, but now it's in addition to....

I didn't intend for this to happen, but slowly since I started working 3 months ago, my son has taken in less and less milk while I'm gone. And in turn, is nursing more at night. I'm trying to embrace this schedule now since it makes pumping at work a lot less stressful.

He used to drink 8-12 ounces while I was gone and now only drinks 2-4 ounces while I'm gone. Meanwhile, he often nurses a lot in the evening and usually nurses every 2-3 hours during the night.

We've had to start co-sleeping because of this because it makes middle of the night feedings so much easier. I barely wake up! Anyways, all this is to say that I'm trying to embrace this schedule. I was stressing for the longest time about his sleep and all the wake-ups. I'm trying to see this as good, and just to go with the flow.

Anyone else deal with reverse cycling?
