@ms.janedoe: yup, our regular sheets fit just fine. I thought it was higher than the average bed but it's not. When we first got the bed, my husband and I stood up on it, held hands and stomped around on it. I guess it breaks up something (I don't remember the technical terms) in the bed and helps to break it in quicker.

We have the Costco version and I love it. The main thing I like is that when one of us rolls around in our sleep or gets in/out of bed, the other doesn't feel it.

@mediagirl: Oooh, I've heard about the breaking-in period but no...she failed to mention this little bit of information... ;) Question for you--do regular sheet sets fit on it? I'm just searchin' for sheets (obviously the best thing to do at work on a Monday) and don't want to buy something if they won't fit it...

@ms.janedoe: woohoo! You'll love it - after the first month once it's broken in. Did they tell you to do the dance on it before you use it? :)

@Mrs Green Grass: I noticed a big difference with the pillows they gave us. We waste so much money on pillows its insane! I just threw 5 of them into the craft bin to make dog pillows out of them.

@mediagirl: We just bought the SAME one yesterday!! Cannot WAIT for it to get delivered on Friday!

We've always loved Tempurpedic beds, we both sleep GREAT on them (a lot of places we've traveled to have them). I agree with the, "you either love 'em or hate 'em" mindset though!!

We have the tempurpedic cloud supreme. We don't spend a lot of money on things but this was one splurge we went for knowing it would be a good investment. It has helped my husband's back problems (he no longer wakes up with back pain) and it's so comfy we never want to get out of it. We have never had a problem with heat and my husband is a 250lb guy who overheats really easily. I LOVE our bed so much, it was totally worth every penny. I'm guessing it made pregnancy a lot easier than it could have been.

I have a Comforpedic (whatever brand that is) and it was like $3000 but we love it! Dh was skeptical about spending that much but now says its the best purchase we've ever made.

You definitely have to find the right firmness for you though...the range is just as extreme as any other mattress.

We were also afraid of the heat, but it hasn't been bad. Get the pillow too...it's key!

We have the memory works kind (sealy's version) and it is effing amazing. We both are constantly raving about it. Can't say either of us feel like we sleep warm-we use a sheet and a light blanket and a fan, though. Neither of us wake up sore anymore. I slept great through all but two weeks of my pregnancy, too.

We initially had a topper but I would roll towards the center with it. With the bed, it doesn't happen. We have an extra firm mattress with a cushion pillow top sewed it so its lot too squishy like some of them are..

We abso-freaking-lutely love ours

I feel like I'm suffocating in tempurpedic. We tried it and I hate it. We have the Four Seasons hotel bed. Literally, you order it from the Four Seasons Hotel! We spent a weekend in the hotel to make sure we liked it. I'm a stomach sleeper so I don't know if that makes a difference. It's stuffed with 50 extra lbs of cotton than normal mattresses so super thick and heavy, but delicious to sleep on.

We had a memory foam mattress topper for awhile and my husband didn't love it because it made him hot. I liked it OK, but it wasn't amazing, I think my back hurts less since I stopped using it. We got one that was decently firm but after a year I felt like it just had too much give.

@pastemoo: Do you have the split system or is it synced to move as one? I'm concerned with how it will feel when I lay in the middle of the split one to cuddle with DH. Will I be able to tell there is a crack? Having two very different settings on the sleep number is one of our major problems & I end up rolling on top of DH when we cuddle.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I LOVE our tempurpedic and we both sleep so much better since we got it.
It is not "hot" to me.
For the price--I think another bed at that price would be also very nice... buying an expensive mattress is really worth it!

We laid on every mattress in two different stores and I think we may have found the set up for us! Denver mattress has an Ergomotion base we can get that looks like this
http://denvermattress.furniturerow.com/dmc/Ergomotion-300-Product-Group/Ergomotion-300-Series-Adjustable-Base/prod1040080/#.UWH0whxkyAg
We would get two twin XL sizes to make it a king. That means DH gets to pick his mattress and I get to pick mine :-) separate mattress, adjustments and massages! Sounds perfect, right?

I have picked out this mattress for myself:
http://denvermattress.furniturerow.com/dmc/Renewed-Energy-Mattress-Group-/Renewed-Energyandno8482-Plush-Firm/prod1100003/#.UWHnFhxkyAg

DH has picked out a "green choice bliss" mattress that can not be found anywhere on the internet. ANYWHERE! DH says he don't care if I can't find it online. He said it's comfy and he wants to get it. (We will be going to another store next weekend to price compare, just encase) Glad I am doing some research before buying all this at just over $4,000! This deal does come with a 50" HDTV and Soundbar (that we don't need) OR we could trade that in for a Best Buy gift card. Personally I'd rather have store credit and apply it to the purchase but DH said we could put the gift card towards a new fridge from best buy :-D

FYI the name brand tempur-pedic we considered second place to this would have been $10,000. TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for a flipping BED! I'm not crazy about spending $4,000 but for DH's comfort I'd do it.
.

@Sugar.Biscuit: Huh! I don't know! Good question for them. It's covered in plush fabric like other mattresses so i don't think you'd be in direct contact with it anyway.. but good to ask them.

We have a Tempurpedic (which we got for almost 70% off!!), and it's ok... I had hoped it would dramatically improve my sleep, but it hasn't. We like it, but would never have paid full price for it. I don't notice the "sleeps hot" thing...

We opted for a latex instead of memory foam (more expensive but same idea- active support). We weren't thrilled about the chemicals that off-gas in the tempurpedic whereas latex is natural/biodegradable etc.

We have the tempurpedic rhapsody and I love it. I sleep very hot and was nervous that I'd be miserable, but it's no better or worse than a conventional mattress. It took a few days to soften up. After our first night in it, DH and I woke up and each regretted getting it. Three days later and we were thrilled with it. Sleep is wonderful in it and so is mommy-daddy time. That was another thing I was worried about - not having the 'feedback' from a spring mattress. Not a problem at all.

The king adjustable mattress is really two twins. :-)

We've had a sleep number bed for 3 years & have hated it for 3 years. Now there is a 20 yr warranty but for us that is the only perk.

The Dr. Suggested we try a tempur-pedic bed. He said about 40% of his patients like it & about 40% like the sleep number and the remaining % you just can please. He said usuallu if you don't like one you'll like the other.

Our PT said he agreed with that statement and added that the tempur-pedic beds sleep hot. HOWEVER they do have a cooling gell mattress we could get that is suppose to help with that. I read a few reviews where they said it's much cooler at first but it warms up like any other mattress would.

Also I believe only the king size beds have controls so that both sides can preform indenpendent from each other. Our queen is almost to big for our room... maybe we could just get two twins and then push them together when we want to cuddle, like grandma & grandpa use to do ;-)
