I started a morning routine/behavior chart a few months ago with my 2.5 year old. It's been effective. He gets stickers for getting dressed, going potty, and getting his coat on. By the end of the week, he gets a small prize, usually a $1 book or something like that. It's curbed tantrums a lot. We still have tantrums like this morning (for various reasons), but has a whole it's gone down a lot.

Yes, I agree on making it something visual. The charts on the wall don't do anything for my son, but we're trying out a system now where he has two special boxes and some blocks that he can earn or lose. We worked out the rewards and consequences together, which I also think helps him.

@blackbird: we also do a pom pom jar!

My kids are almost 4 and 6 and we have great success with it~

However we do not take them away - once earned they are yours to keep!

Last time DD's was full she went to chuck-e-cheese and DS went bowling. It also gives some 1:1 time with the kids!

A friend of mine does it and has sang its praises for YEARS. They still use it with their 4 year old. They get those fuzzy little balls from a craft store and put them in a jar. And once the jar is full, their son gets a treat. He gets to choose an activity, like going to Medieval Times or something like that. They say that it has really given him a visual incentive for good behavior. They will also take fuzzies away if he is particularly naughty. I think whatever you choose, making it something they can easily SEE and understand is key.

Does anyone do any type of reward chart or marble jar type deal for behavior? I'm not sure if my LO is old enough to grasp the concept yet but we are trying to do things to work on our toddlers behavior. Looking into rewards of some sort for good behavior but not sure if I should go a different route.
