@blackbird: @sorrycharlie: I can't imagine having to wait until I deliver for this to go away!!! Yikes! And clearly all of those kegels I've been doing haven't been too helpful as I had such a huge coughing spell on my way to work that I may or may not have to walk around with my sweater around my waist.

@MUI831: @sorrycharlie: also struggling over here. I constantly feel stuffy in the nose, to the point i have trouble breathing when I go to bed. I've been taking Claritin nightly and just hoping it goes away when I deliver!

Old thread but I just got "diagnosed" with this. I've had a nonstop cold since the beginning of the year and went to an ENT. He prescribed me antibiotics and Flonase, both approved by my obgyn. But he also said that it might take 2 weeks to really kick in. I can handle the congestion (though super annoying) but the coughing is driving me nuts! I can't imagine having to deal with this for another 11 weeks until my due date. Hopefully the drugs work!

@Charmed I had the really dry, stuffy nose last time around, too. Nose bleeds and everything. :(

The only thing that helped was Xlear brand nasal spray. I think neti pots are a great idea, but I was way too gaggy to even think about using one last time. Zyrtec was always my favorite allergy med before I got pregnant. Maybe give that one a try if it's pregnancy safe. I'm sorry you're going through that. No fun at all!

Cough drops have always helped with my post nasal drip issues. My nose gets the worst while sleeping, a humidifier has helped with that.

@sorrycharlie: mine wasn't the post nasal drip but I had no stuffiness either. But I would get horrible pressure headaches. Sure enough the Claritin helped plus some Sudafed as needed. It happened in both my pregnancies.

@MsMini: @sorrycharlie: This is me. Puking from MS or post nasal drip I don't know. it's disgusting. I've been using NasalCrom. I think it helps a little. The drip never ends though. I also use SinusBuster on occasion, but it sounds like you're not getting stuffy.

I have definitely had this on and off for most of my pregnancy so far. I'm 22 weeks. It's the worst. Have you tried the neti pot? it involves pouring salty water through your nose but worked well for me. Also inhaling steam helped me. I think blowing constantly only irritated my nose more. Hope it gets better soon!

@MsMini: oh my gosh..yes. you just described my days. the nastiness makes me gag, I try to cough it up and gag, and gag so much I puke, but whatever it is is stuck so I then can't breathe, choke while getting sick. omg. it's horrifying. did anything work for you???

@T.H.O.U.: @HLK208: that's the thing I don't understand (and maybe why she's having me see a specialist) - allergens don't seem to change it whatsoever, and I can totally breathe! it is the constant drip..sorry to be gross..that's bad. like, zero congestion. it's BIZARRE. although, I guess there could be worse symptoms?! lol..

I got this combined with never ending morning sickness. I have puked from the feeling of the secretions running down my throat more than I can count ... So I wouldn't temp the severe nausea and vomiting ... They aren't mutually exclusive ;)

@sorrycharlie: Claritin is what ended up working for me. It had to build up in your system for about a week before seeing effects.

Another note is to wash your face and eye kids after spending time outdoors.

Replace your AC filter with a good hepa one to help with indoor relief.

@T.H.O.U.: I've tried mucinex, sudafed, neither worked - benadryl does but zaps me. my doctor wants me to try claritin to see.

@charmed: oh no! try the saline drops - in the baby/kid area of the pharmacy! it helps loads.

did anyone else suffer from this?

UGH. it sucks, to say the least. I might prefer severe nausea and vomiting. at least there's some relief!

it's basically, awful horrible no-good very bad post nasal drip, all day, every day. medicine doesn't help (with the exception of benadryl, um, can't knock myself out with a toddler!) and I am afraid of what my poor ILs water bill is from all my showers!

it is so gross. and miserable. my OB actually put a referral in for me to see a specialist next week!

anyway, most of the tips I was given haven't worked, so looking for commiseration - or, if you have an idea that isn't neti pot, sudafed or to drink water, I'm all ears!!
