i've had deep fried and plain rice balls.

my mom makes the plain ones for A all the time. just rice, sesame seed oil, soy sauce, and sometimes a protein mixed in (ground sirloin or chicken) or a veggie (steamed/chopped carrots/green onion/peas) she'll mix it all up and round em out in about half an inch balls.

I made riceballs but I didn't put anything in them... I put steamed spinanch in before but LO pulled them out haha. LO gobbles down plain rice balls. sometimes I put a piece of seaweed on top.

If you know for sure it is sesame oil, soy sauce and sesame seeds, don't you just put these things inside the rice ball and roll it up and that's it? Are you asking for techniques?

Mom and Dad were out visiting my brother's family last week. They went to my nephew's "play school" one day and the snack that day had rice balls. Each of the parents rotates snack week and this week, one of the kids' nannies brought in rice balls.

Mom said she asked what was in them and she was pretty sure it was sesame oil, soy sauce and maybe some sesame seeds? Either way, she said the kiddos gobbled them up.

Do you make rice balls or patties for your kiddos lunches? Can I have your recipe? :)
