Updated:

Okay, so I went and brought my bike home. I was anxious about going but once I was riding, I felt like me again. =) I missed my bike so much and will be super sad to see it go.

I will probably skip out on the day ride, but try to squeeze in one or two short half hour rides in with hubby before I start showing. But I want to sell the bike soon too since it's still early in the season.

I felt so happy on my bike. Hoped baby enjoyed the ride.

Now it's time for a nap. LOL

@ms.line: I stopped riding when I got pregnant for the same reason. I had to transport my bike and just got my BIL to do it on the back of his pickup. If that wasn't an option my husband would have ridden it. The risk of injury in case of an accident was too much.

I stopped taking my bike out as soon as I got pregnant - I wasn't worried about the vibrations, but more about being in an accident and getting hurt overall. If it were me, I'd probably ride to storage, but nothing else.

Eta: I do miss it!! I don't know if/when I'll ever get back on and that's a real bummer.

Do what feels is best for you. There's prob little risk due to bumpiness but the anxiety of wondering if the bumpiness will cause a mc will be way worst. If you feel anxious and it's not absolutely necessary to ride, then skip it.

As a rider, I def wouldn't worry about bringing the bike home. The day ride would be okay too, but would depend on how you feel.

A friend of mine rode passenger while pregnant (can't remember how far long she was but for sure before she was 20 weeks) for a day ride with no problems. DH and I have discussed riding this season for me and though we both agree it'd be fine, I'm already 21 weeks so by the time we can take the bike out I'm pretty sure it'll be too uncomfortable.

I doubt the vibrations would cause any issues but I would not ride a motorcycle while pregnant, even just 10 minutes. Not that I would ever either :silly:

When I was newly pregnant I went out on the river with friends who did not know and at one point it got really bumpy due to speed and I got jolted abound a fair amount but I felt weird announcing to everyone so early and I was so anxious for several days. Once my friend knew it was driving miss daisy for the rest of the summer. I'd ask your OB.

The vibrations are fine. You know the risks of riding a motorcycle, whether it's a short or long ride. If the sadness of not riding outweighs the risk for you, then you have your answer.

At 12 weeks, I was already having to pee frequently. That would be a hassle.

Since having a kid I wouldn't ever get on a motorcycle ever. I nearly need a xanax to fly. These are not things I was scared of before, but now all I can think is "i'm never going to see my kid again."

That said, my personal opinions about the general riskiness of motorcycle riding aside- I would think the ride home would be okay. But I"d double check with your doctor (bearing in mind that motorcycles are widely known as "donor cycles" among medical professionals).

I really, really don't think it is likely to do anything to your baby or cause a miscarriage (unless you are in an accident, I guess). There is, of course, the risk that you could miscarry anyway- and if you would be unable to avoid blaming yourself its something to consider. I don't drink during pregnancy because I know that if ANYTHING was wrong with my baby I'd blame myself for ever. I think small amounts of alcohol are likely fine during pregnancy- but I can't do it because I'd never let it go if something happened.

I sound like a wet blanket. I probably am. Give me my mini van and my sensible shoes :silly:

@stiletto_mom: I would ride it home, and I would take the day ride. But I also rode a bike until 2 days before I delivered my last baby, so I'm more comfortable with small risk than most. But certainly, ride it home, at least.

I wouldn't think driving it home would be a big deal. But! How will you feel if you do miscarrying again after? Will you blame yourself? I avoided things that scared me just so I didn't have to worry that it was my fault if something went wrong again.,

I asked my OB about riding on DH's small boat out in choppy open water and he said it was fine. I was much further along but it hurt to bounce up and down like that (much more jolting than a bike though).

I would for sure skip the day ride, but if you have an option for someone else to get the bike home I would let someone else. It wont hurt anything but in my mind the risk is too great. Like what if something else crazy happened like you fell and broke your arm, how would you feel about medications at this point in your pregnancy.

A little background:
1 - miscarried last pregnancy
2 - ttc 17 months and only conceived after I completely stopped my excercise regimen.

Meaning I'm concerned that I maybe sensitive to physical stress.

So question 1:
I have to go get my motorcycle from storage. Would I be safe for me to ride it about 10 minutes home? Will vibrations hurt the baby? I'll be 7 weeks.

Question 2:
Some friends invited me for a day ride in May. It's 2 hours there, 2 hours back. Is this too much? I'll be around 11 - 12 weeks then. Should I back out?

Advice from everyone is appreciated but from other riders would be super helpful. Thanks!
