@paigeface: I get migraines with auras and it often causes blank spots in my vision - this can occur with or without an accompanying headache. Any chance it’s that?

Update: Confirmed today that my gestational diabetes test came back perfect so it has nothing to do with that. They said to go get it tested as well but I am thinking too that it's just pregnancy. However, I need to get my drivers license renewed ASAP! They won't renew it without getting my eyes checked and signing off that I'm ok on their paper. Going to Target today to get it checked but now I am nervous!

I’ve always gotten floaters during pregnancy and it really made me nervous during my first pregnancy. For me they start really early too. But I discussed with my dr and they have never been linked to anything and they stop after I give birth.

Yep, my eyesight always seems to get worse during pregnancy and then goes back to normal a few months after birth. Though I also attributed it to poor sleep. I never talked to a doctor about it, but I hope you get some answers soon.

Yes especially with my daughter my eyes got worse. I need classes now. It did not correct itself after birth. I had no diabetes. Mention it to your doctor though. When we are pregnant we make relaxin and it makes out hips and muscles a bit looser for birth. I've heard it can also effect your eyes.

Have you been tested for gestational diabetes yet?

Vision problems is a major sign of diabetes. My dad and brother have type 1 diabetes and their first symptom was vision getting worse.

I have terrible eyesight (legally blind in my right eye and a severe astigmatism in the left). When I was pregnant [with both DD and DS), my vision began to blur around 5 mos (with DD) and in my 3rd trimester (with DS). My contacts did not fit correctly either. While it is absolutely normal for vision to change in late pregnancy, keep an eye on it (* pun intended! 🤣) because it is also a sign of diabetes and a symptom of preeclampsia (* which I had with both my full-term pregnancies). If your vision becomes increasingly bad, you see light streaks (or floaters), or there is pain/pressure behind your orbitals; contact your OBGYN.

Hi guys!

I’ve had no eye problems ever. I have 20/20 vision. I remember with my first pregnancy that my OB mentioned your eyesight can get a little wonky during pregnancy. Yesterday I went to renew my license and FAILED the last part of the eye exam (stupid test where you stick your head in the eye machine and it lights up.) The whole last colum was blank to me. I could read everything perfectly except the far away text in the last column. It just looked blank to me. I actually got a bit nervous because again I have never had eye issues or even noticed anything different. I work on my phone and computer all day and have had ZERO issues reading even the tiniest text. Long story short they are making me go get tested elsewhere before I can get my license renewed. I’m just annoyed because I have so many appointments coming up I don’t want to have my husband leave work to drive me to. I assured the woman who tested me it was because of pregnancy (i’m 7 months along.) Everything i’m reading is saying it is super common and a side effect of pregnancy and will go away shortly after birth. Has anyone had issues during pregnancy with their eyesight? Any suggestions?
