My hands swell in the summer normally, and my rings spin in the winter. I was super upset too, I felt like it was an indication of my weight loss (or lack thereof) and was terrified I'd have to go back to work without my rings. In fact I was losing weight, it just took a while for the water retention/swelling to go down.
