I got it from a student last year. Just keep putting cream on it, and keep it covered.

@T.H.O.U.: Bleh! I'd be so annoyed if its not ringworm and I had to keep her out of school!

@T.H.O.U.: I'll take a picture of it later... It def doesn't have a defined ring and barely any normal skin in the middle!

@regberadaisy: My son had a spot but in doing some google searching it sounds like a lot of things are classified as "ringworm" but can really be various types of rashes. Since his never spread (and we continued them bathing together) we didn't think it was ring worm. Lotrimin for a few weeks didn't really clear it up (it helped but still very obvious). Eventually a drop or two of pure Tea Tree Oil (every day covered) cured it.

@Dahlia: Nope! She just said to also put on cortisone cream as if it's eczema. We have to go back if it doesn't get any better for another week.

@snowjewelz: Did the doctor do a scraping to look for fungus? I thought I had it a while ago and on visual inspection the doctor confirmed, but when the anti fungal didn't help they did a scraping and looked at it under the microscope during my appointment. Turns out it was psoriasis, which is also not fun but isn't contagious.

@regberadaisy: daycare was the one that called yesterday, hah. I saw the rash but we just thought nothing of it, lol! Well our dr gave a note that she could go back 24 hrs after putting on cream (but we kept her home today since she only goes half day and it would be pointless). I'd just be so annoyed if it wasn't ring worm!

@snowjewelz: I think (and her primary ped agrees) it was/is just eczema. If your doc thinks Dd has ringworm you need to let daycare know. It's contagious by contact. DD didn't have any visible spots but one was on her shoulders so daycare asked us to put cream on it and cover with a bandaid (even though it was covered by her onesie) until it was gone since the babies were always crawling all over each other. If it was on a permanently exposed area they would want her to stay home until it was gone. :/

@regberadaisy: whatever happened to DD?

K just got ringworm too, dr is 99% sure so we're putting a mix of Lotrimin and Cortisone cream in case it's just eczema. Cause her ring isn't super clear.

It's on her face though! I don't know if I should put a bandaid on it.. And then I'd have to wash sheets every day since her faces would touch it?!

My older LO had ringworm. We just put anti fungal cream on it and kept applying for about a week after the rash disappeared.
Just read your update. My LO rash never spread. It was a circle with normalish looking skin in the middle.

@cascademom: @blackbird: @misolee: thanks my ped said Lotrimin for ringworm so that's what I got. I put a bandaid on top after I applied the cream so it doesn't rub off.

Thankfully it doesn't seem to really bother her.

Ugh i had ringworm like...8 years. Hot water, bleach, etc. You can use a fluorescent light to see the fungus, which is kind of cool. I used Lamisil and covered the spots with bandaids so I didn't scratch them or the contagious parts didn't flake off onto my regular clothes and spread that way. I kept mine covered all the time.

Itchiest I have ever been in my life! I caught it from a cat at work, then gave it to my cat. It was a pretty miserable experience for us. I used Lamisil (athlete's foot cream) on the lesions and it took a couple weeks to resolve.

Our eldest got ringworm. It was a circle on his chest. We didn't know what to make of it when we saw it. The doctor confirmed it was a ringworm. I washed sheets, etc. The biggest thing is to put the anti-fungal on it for a couple of weeks.

Anyone else's LO get ringworm before?

Pediatrician just confirmed it this morning. It started out as a red mark that I assumed was a rash. Then it turned bumpy, I thought dried skin. But a month later, it's still there, so we brought it up at a flu shot visit.
I feel like an a$$ for not bringing it up earlier. Surprisingly, it has not spread and is in only one spot, that's always covered. Knock on wood, her sister has not gotten it, despite the fact that I bathe them together.

Will be stripping both their sheets tonight and bathing separately till I'm sure it's gone.

Any other tips? I think it's contagious by contact and contact through clothing / towels etc. Since it's on her shoulder and always covered I'm assuming no issues with sharing toys. It'll be hard to prevent big sister from hugging her though!
