I had spotting with both pregnancies all throughout the first trimester. I only had betas with the first though. Both have been healthy pregnancies, currently 21 weeks with #2. I would trust the numbers. Easier said than done, I know. Hoping it is all good for you too.

I spotted for much of the first trimester with my first and had a healthy baby. Never found out why, but it stopped somewhere around 10-11 weeks. This pregnancy, I've been having light brown discharge since 8 weeks (now almost 10 weeks) and it's very unsettling, but the doctor assures me it's just a super-sensitive cervix. If your betas are rising so well, I would guess you have something similar. Fingers crossed :goodluck:

I spotted brown, with a few instances of red, from the day after my BFP through about 7 weeks. I'm currently nursing my 7-week old son - everything turned out just fine! Hope all is well for you too - and stay off Dr. Google!

@hello baby: wow! I can't believe they refuse & sent you to the er for labs!

I guess I had the fortune that my primary care Dr set up a standing order for me to get betas drawn at the time of my m/c first time around--partly to watch hcg go down then, & for once we got pg again. I hadn't yet gotten established with my OB or RE at the time of our 1st pregnancy. Any way your family Dr would order the labs?? Also, I know I just read on HB this week someone thought there's a way you can order your own beta, but no idea where you'd go to get the blood draw or how that works... I feel your pain, friend, but think it seems quite likely that all is well.

I spotted anywhere from brown to bright red from weeks 6-11. Nerve wracking. All is well :) No reason given, they think maybe a subchorionic hemorrhage leaking out.

ETA I'm 40 weeks this Saturday... and baby is super freakin cozy in there...

For your OBs benefit...sonograms around 6 weeks can be super tricky. If your math is off at all they might suspect you're miscarrying even if you aren't.

That happened to my SIL. She was bleeding and they didn't see a heartbeat so they were ready to do a D&C. Something in her gut told her to wait, and sure enough, there was a baby!)

Maybe if you're still worried next week you can have betas drawn at the ER again to make sure?

@BandDmommy: I do actually! I have an 8 week appt (intake assessment) in 2 weeks. I'm going to beg for an early u/s (even though if they do it, I won't get the 12 week one). I don't know what more to do....

Yep, agree with others, that some spotting is probably ok--though admittedly not comforting to you. The rising betas seem like great news. If you can't get in for u/s, can you continue to get betas drawn? I previously m/c'd, then had bleeding on 1 day at 5w with my current pregnancy. I was relieved to be able to get betas drawn until 6w, then had both a 6 & 7w u/s, where we saw the HB at both! All very reassuring to me during that scary time. Best of luck to you.

I believe a lot of people spot during pregnancy and it typically isn't anything to worry about (especially if it is brown and not bright red). But you can always call your OB if you are really concerned! :)

My doctor told me that unless it was red not to be worried. She also said that unless you're filling up a pad, not to be that concerned. Has your OB offered an ultrasound given the spotting? That might just help put your mind at ease a bit!

I had bright red bleeding with both my pregnancies & have two healthy children.

But, I would call and ask.

The cause of my bleeding the second time was an SCH in early pregnancy. Then I had previa, then I had cervical verices. I bled heavily through my entire second pregnancy & was in the ER because of it more times than I care to remember!

I had a bit of brown spotting and clots and abdomen pain during 6-12 weeks. It was when I over excreted myself. I was very worried but everything turned out okay. I'm still pregnant... 26 weeks or so.

I think as long as it's not red you might be okay. I would just talk to my OB and have an ultrasound if you are very worried. :)

Regular user gone anonymous: ;)
I've been having mild, brown spotting since I got my bfp (which is why I tested). Currently, I'm 6+1 and the spotting continues about 50% of the time I use the bathroom. It's not heavy, it's actually very mild but I had betas drawn Saturday & Monday and they look great. So my question is... Do you think the spotting is harmless if my betas look okay?

Saturday's betas (26dpo): 12910
Monday's (28dpo): 21092
Doubling time: 66 hours & 64% increase

Thanks!
