@photojane: I would definitely recommend it. We had the pnp set up for a while, then we just bit the bullet and set up the crib and put away the pnp, and now she's in her rnp and the crib is just a huge stand for the video monitor's camera :)

i'm so grateful for all the great reviews. i was originally planning a pnp in the bedroom for those initial weeks with the constant feedings, but we don't really have the room for a huge pnp. i was worried about the repercussions of the incline of the rnp, but i think i'll just take the plunge and do the rnp instead of the pnp.

@lydg: Understandable. Some people added padding under the fabric to make it softer on the head. Don't know how much it helps ameliorate any flat head issue, but it's something to think about.

Our LO was in the RNP at night until about 11-12 weeks, and he continued to take some naps in it until probably about 16 weeks.

@mrsyoyo it is encouraging reading so many positive reviews...and i would definitely say the positives far outweigh the negatives.

i guess my main concern would be LO already has a sort of funny shaped head (i had a vacuum assisted delivery) and i would hate to exacerbate it! but since LO can also be a fussy sleeper who doesn't like to sleep on his back...this might be a future purchase for me.

how long did everyone keep their LO in the RnP? (age-not time)

LO sleeps in his RNP every night when we're home and we love it! Last night we stayed with my mom and I couldn't get him to stay asleep in the bassinet she has so we ended up having to put him in his car seat to simulate the RNP. He slept for 7 hours straight (the longest ever!) I hope the RNP isn't setting us up for a huge issue when we try to transition to the crib, but for now it's working for us.

Loved loved loved the RNP!

@lydg: I remember reading some of those, but I'm a bit skeptical because a certain percentage of babies are always going to get flat head due to favoring one side, and it doesn't matter where they sleep.

@mrs. wagon: do whatever works for you and baby!
I am SUPER excited about mine and can't wait to use it. I've heard great things about it and it is just so convenient in size and fold-ability and everything...It's my favorite piece of gear that we have actually. Hopefully it does not disappoint.

We were given a rock n play when she was 2 months. Prior to that, she either slept in my arms or for 15-45 minute stretches in her pack n play. The first night I had the rock n play I swaddled her, and put her in the RnP. She slept from 10-7 that night and that's when I knew it was magical!! :)

I thought DS would struggle going from an incline to being flat on his back, so we bought a wedge for the crib. He actually moves off the wedge (while he's sleeping) and ends up in the part of the crib where there isn't a wedge. Go figure! I thought it would be an issue going from an angle to being flat, but it wasn't. :)

@prettylizy: They don't have them in France either :( I bought mine in the US and brought it back in my suitcase. No regrets, DD is now 7.5 weeks and loves it! She'll sleep in it exclusively until she needs something bigger. Then we'll transition to our baby bjorn until we move in January and buy her a crib.

I feel like I missed the boat on the RnP, I don't think they are available in Canada. Alas, we survived without it but I might plan a States shopping trip when we have #2 and give it a try.

DS slept in the rock n play at night until he was 15 weeks! We joked that he would be the only 9 year old sleeping in a R&P : )

He hated sleeping flat on his back (would scream) so the R&P was a savior for us for night sleep. The transition to crib honestly wasn't that bad....the anticipation of it was worse than the actual transition. He was still swaddled so it worked just fine. He was in his 4 month regression when we transitioned him anyways so maybe he had one extra night waking for a week.

We did! After she outgrew the bassinet, Baby Jumper slept in the RnP for several weeks. We transitioned her from the RnP into her Pack n Play during nap times, and after she adjusted to that we let her sleep in the PnP during bedtime. My concern was that she'd be going from a reclined position to a flat position, but it seemed to be a pretty easy and seamless transition. She slept in the PnP for maybe a week before we put her in her crib, and never had any problems!

Good luck!

Our LO moved to the rock n play after sleeping in a bassinet. He slept for 2 months in rock and play and a week ago we moved him to his crib. He had no problems transitioning to crib and now is sleeping from 8 pm to 7 am.

We finally decided to let LMW sleep in the rock n play for every nap and her first stretch of night sleep, and we'll put her in the crib after her night feedings. (Previously she was napping in the swinging swing and we were trying to put her to bed in her crib, and spending hours every night getting her down.) Tonight it still took a bit to get her down but she's been sleeping longer than she has in a couple of weeks. That rock n play is so magical. I'm worried about transitioning back into the crib, but I figure swaddle weaning and sleep training is all going to suck anyway, so might as well deal with it all later and just let all of us get some decent sleep now while she's still young. At least for the next few weeks (she's 10 weeks old).

Anyone else rely on the rock n play?? I'm so in love with it that I'm thinking of writing an entire blog post just about it. Last night I spent 2 hours sweating and my arms were shaking with weakness from rocking her to sleep over and over... tonight I laid in bed and just pushed the rock n play gently until she was asleep! I almost fell asleep myself!
