Oh good question! We bought a RnP and registered for a bouncer. I'm planning to use the RnP for night time sleep though.. hope it works out!

I don't have either, but I have heard great things about the RnP so that got my vote. If you wanted another option that would last a long time, maybe check out the Infant-to-Toddler Rocker. I have that one and my DD loves it. She slept in it all the time for naps as a newborn and then as she grew, she loved kicking her legs to rock the chair and make the little toys on the bar move. Now she can grab he toys so it keeps her occupied for a while if I need to do something and she's bored of her jumper or gym! :) http://www.fisher-price.com/en_US/brands/babygear/products/47989

I voted for bouncer because we didn't have a RnP. My LO doesn't use the bouncer THAT much but it does come in handy. I usually leave it in my room so she can watch me get ready for the day in it. It's also handy when we are eating at table, she can sit in it and watch us. She has never slept in it though, even as a tiny baby. She's almost 4 months and I can see her using the bouncer for a couple more months. I have the Taggies one which I like because it is super soft and gender neutral.

I voted rock n play because LMW didn't care for the bouncer but loved the RNP. Also it was great because it's the perfect height for a toddler to rock and look at the baby in the face! And once they get too heavy, the bouncer just lies flat... but I have really big fat babies :P

I also voted because when I was at my wit's end with her nighttime sleep, the RNP totally saved me.

I think it really depends on what you want to use it for. My lo lived in his bouncer for the first 2 months but we used a pnp or bed for night sleep. An rnp can be used for both day and night.

They serve two totally different purposes. The Rock n Play is more for sleeping, but can be rocked, whereas a bouncer is much smaller and is better for awake time, but can be used for naps a little near the beginning.

The Rock n Play was essential for us, but we also had a bouncer.

I can't make up my mind, but I'm kind of leaning towards the bouncer because it's cheaper.

ETA: DD hated the swing, and we didn't buy a bouncer or rnp for her. Since this is our last kid, I'm trying to buy the minimal gear, if possible.
