I got a reclining rocker from a local furniture store for DD and it has been fantastic. Being able to lean back when she wants to snuggle against my chest feels like it’s made a difference at bed time even if I can’t know for sure. Really whatever you do, though, you’re going to want to put your feet up so either a recliner or rocker/glider with ottoman will serve you well.

I highly recommend a gliding rocker plus a matching gliding ottoman.

I have the Milo rocker from what is now Crate and Kids. Its a dream. I did not get the matching gliding ottoman because I didn't think I needed it. This glider is now in my room since my big girl's room got changed up and I don't think I have any intention of getting rid of it soon.

Second baby I got a Baby appleseed crosby glider from Buy Buy Baby. The back height is good, but chair is overall crap. you get what you pay for. you can eventually feel the wood in the arm rest, so you will eventually need to use a pillow under your arm. No big deal though. But with a gliding ottoman, this chair eventually became my favorite. The back height of the chair was always my main concern because my husband and I are both tall.

Good luck!! I really think the glider is the place to spend the money in a nursery since you personally will be using it so much.

Do you have a rocker/glider that you recommend for those early baby days? What I'm looking for:

-glider or rocker with foot rest (not recliner)
-I'd like to lean my head back without the back of the chair hitting me at a weird angle and tipping my head forward

I spent the first 3 months of DD's life in our recliner (which wasn't actually that comfortable). So I'm willing to spend $$ for something that works well.
