@Cherrybee: I don't think S really likes it- it's as if she rolls in frustration trying to get away from the floor!

Xander rolled front to back like six times in a row around 5 weeks and then wouldn't do it again! To this day (7 months), he STILL struggles with it!

@illumina: Same as some of the previous posters - she did it a handful of times around 3-4 weeks, but wasn't doing it consistently for a couple months. She learned to roll back to front first & then front to back a few weeks later(opposite of normal), and we swaddled until she could do both at will.

L did that too and then hasn't again since! I'm still trying to convince him that we need to start rolling. He's having none of it!!

My LO started rolling front to back at 3 weeks. She did it pretty consistently but wasn't big/strong enough to do it while swaddled. We swaddled until she was about 3.5 months. I knew it was time to stop cause she was strong enough to wiggle in the swaddle and move around the cosleeper although she never actually rolled in it.

FWIW Mine did this a few times in a row at 3 weeks and not again until 3 months. My dr. told me it isn't purposeful when they do it that young. I wouldn't worry about not swaddling unless you find she is rolling from back onto her front in her crib.

This morning during tummy time, S rolled from her front onto her back. She did it 3 times in a couple of minutes so I'd like to think it wasn't a fluke. She's 3wks old this coming Wednesday. What is the milestone? Front to back or back to front? I didn't think I'd be thinking about milestones this soon. At what point do I need to be careful about swaddling/wrapping her up to sleep if she can roll?
