Merlin suit has been perfect for us. We put her in it at 4 months and she's still sleeping soundly in it at 6 months. We'll need the next size in a few weeks I think. One time the Merlin suit was in the wash and DH put her down for a nap, and she immediately rolled over and stuck her leg through the crib slats and started wailing. She stays on her back in the Merlin suit and seems to like it just fine. We got ours on our local Buy Nothing group which I was insanely grateful for.

@MrsSRS: yay! Happy it worked! DD is almost 17lbs so I don't think the suit is worth it for us? I haven't tried the crib again, still in the bassinet 😁

@Mae: well the tag says 6 - 9 months but I bought it on amazon so I don't have anything to compare it to. I know LO is around 80th percentile, but I didn't think it would be this small either! Hmm...

@MrsSRS: Okay this is a dumb question but are you sure you have the large size? I just looked back at my LO's stats and at 6mo when we moved her out of the merlin she was 15 lb 13oz and 26 inches long. She still fit in the small size and was juuuust barely able to fit in the large if the small we had was dirty.

@rpparker: @jlm22: Ok, I bought the large merlin. Instant problem solver. Falls asleep on her own and sleeps lime she used to. DD wears a size 6 mo though, and is maybe 16 pounds? and barely fits in the size 6-9 months, though. Wish it came in a bigger size!

We used the merlin sleep suit too. Even tho she could roll any way she liked, she wasn't rolling in the suit for a while so I took full advantage of that!

@Mae: That's what I keep telling myself. I mean DS could only sleep ON me for months and now he loves bedtime. At least DD came pre wired with a functional drowsy but awake setting.
@jlm22: We hadn't moved her out of our room yet. We were going to wait for her to STTN because our kids will room share, but they have the same bedtimes and wake times and she only gets up once a night so maybe once we figure out the damn rolling I'll just go for it. Ready for a roomie, DS?

@Mae: got it. Thanks. #bassinetforlife
@MrsSRS: I had such a hard time moving her to her own room and crib.... So I'm secretly happy she is next to me again, ha.

@MrsSRS: It feels sort of like a stiff snow suit. The outside is fleece and then it has some polyfill type stuff and the inside is just cotton.

@jlm22: Probably not........ I mean the large size says 6-9 months so I guess you can use it at that point but at 6mo my LO was alllllmost rolling over in it. So I feel like buying a new one for a 6mo doesn't seem like a good investment to me.

@jlm22: full confession: I keep putting her in the rock n play next to my bed so she will stay put. But she's starting to flop around in there like a fish at about 4am.

@MrsSRS: following because I'm going through it too. I keep putting her back in her bassinet because she can't roll in that. She is way to big for it and it has to stop, haha!

@Mae: do you recommend a Merlin suit for a 6 month old who was only swaddled in the hospital? Her head control is fine and she can roll both ways, but forgets how to do belly to back at night!

@rpparker: 😣😣😣
@Mae: I've been pondering a Merlin suit. I wish someone I knew had one so I could touch one before I buy it. DD is big and strong for a three month old and I'd hate to get one and realize she could flip in it. Especially since she can't go belly to back yet. Hoping to avoid sleep training with this baby since she can put herself to sleep. But we'll do what we have to at six months like we did with DS!

I don't know what you should do, but I can tell you what we did. We put her in a merlin suit so she couldn't roll over. That fixed the problem for about a month (until she was 6mo old). At that point her sleep went to utter shit regardless of rolling so we decided to sleep train. I asked our ped what to do because our LO rolled consistently back to belly, and HAD rolled belly to back but never remembered she was capable of it. I wanted to take her out of the merlin to sleep train because she was just about rolling in it so it seemed like we should just rip off that bandaid. Our ped said just leave her on her stomach. She said if she was rolling back to belly she had sufficient head strength to belly sleep and continually going in to flip her was not going to help our cause. Funny thing... she figured out the whole flipping back over the first night ;)

@MrsSRS: Just chiming in to say that we are going through the exact same thing! My LO woke up 3 times last night compared to her normal 1 wake up. She had even slept through the night a few times before she learned to roll.

I vaguely remember this phase from DS, but I don't remember what we did. DD can roll from her back to her belly, but she doesn't really like to be on her belly. How did you help your baby sleep when they couldn't help but roll, but didn't want to belly sleep?
