Planning on it so we can keep our guest room. I'm thinking whenever he starts STTN we'll move him in. Until then he'll stay in our room or in the guest room.

If they want their own rooms later someone will have to clean the bathroom...

@snowjewelz: the rate we're at now we'll probably be cosleeping with LO1 and hopefully keep LO2 in the crib longer! :silly:

Also so curious about this! We live in a 2 bedroom apt so my plan is to move lo to a toddler bed and give the new baby her crib (or get a 2nd crib, we have a toddler rail for the crib we were going to put on soon....). But baby will sleep in our room in a bassinet for awhile, not sure how long yet....

@josina: if we don't end up co-sleeping with one or both, we are considering them sharing a room too, so we can keep the guest room!

Our boys just started sharing toward the end of last year, when LO1 was 4.5 and LO2 had just turned 2. They have matching twin beds that are low to the ground. It's gone really well. They both mostly STTN, and LO1 is a pretty heavy sleeper, which helps if LO2 is up to any shenanigans.

We do a joint bedtime around 8 for both, and they're both typically up between 6:30 and 7. LO2 still takes a nap, but we have a downstairs playroom so it's not a big deal that LO1 can't use his room at that time. My only regret is that I think LO1 could probably use a little more sleep in the morning, but since LO2 still gets his nap, he's not tired anymore and LO1 is up whether he likes it or not. So he gets kind of cranky sometimes ... but refuses any sort of nap most days. (Just as well, he'll be in K soon without the opportunity for a nap.)

@T.H.O.U.: We do still do joint bedtime, and I think we will for the foreseeable future. So far they chat a little at night, but often one falls asleep and the other doesn't (depending on naps/what activities each had that day), so I really don't think they bother each other!

DD1 has a crib with the side off like a daybed, DD2 is in a regular crib. The rough plan is that when DD3 arrives, she will get DD2's crib, DD2 will get the crib sized daybed, and DD1 will move to the IKEA Kritter toddler bed I've had stashed for ages but haven't needed yet.

Also, after how amazingly the girls slept last night at my inlaws' when DD2 climbed out of a pack n play into DD1's twin bed, I'm seriously toying with the idea of a shared double bed! DD2 really likes to be close to someone at night.....and DD1 seems to be a willing candidate after all! maybe I'll just rearrange their room at home put their beds very close together and see how it goes?!

@PinkElephant: Thats great to hear! Do you do a joint bedtime? Does DD2 have a crib still? I'm thinking if DS isn't out of the crib yet, we may bunk the two twins that we have and just move the crib into there.

The two and four year old share, and have since they were just about one and just about three.

There was no big adjustment; DD2 sleeps better in a room with her big sis than she did alone.

No regrets. We are currently running into sleep issues with DD2 (she wants to sleep in our bed, and wakes up in the MOTN yelling this)....and I feel like I have to get her because if it goes on for ages, DD1 will eventually wake up. I don't intend to separate them; I think this is a phase. Actually, if we are still in this place when Dd3 is old enough, she will probably join her sisters in the bedroom (it's huge!)

We are planning to have them share when they turn 2.5 and 5.5 yrs. I think by that point he will be out of the crib (or close enough) and the baby will need the nursery.

Mine shared a room from ages 9 months-26 months for the little and 2-almost 4 for the older. They loved it. When I told our older one that wer were moving and he would have his own room he said, "but I don't know how to have my own room!" For me, I loved putting them to bed together. Now, I love them having separate rooms and they don't wake each other up in the mornings or occasionally going down at night. If we had more I'm pretty sure we'd bunk the kids and they'd go back go sharing.

@hummusgirl: same here, but my 7 month old sleeps in the master bathroom right now. I'm wondering if she would have them share now or wait until we move to a bigger place in the next few months. Not sure how to do bedtimes though since the toddler isn't that a quiet and we still rock the baby to sleep.

Following as well. DD is in our "small" room and I'm sort of planning for her to move to the bigger room and share with LO2 (due in Feb) once the baby moves out of our room. But I'm wondering if that will be disastrous.

Following. My LO2 is still in our bedroom at 7 months which I never expected but we're all sleeping well so I'm hesitant to change it now. I'm thinking maybe we'll move him to LO1's room at a year.

Like @Avivoca LO2 will join LO1 when I am ready to have them out of my room. My guess is around 4 months, but it might be different.

I shared with my siblings my whole childhood and it was good. I am sure there were times we got each other all worked up, but mostly I think it was easier for my mom to put us all to sleep at the same time.

They will be sharing once little sister is about 8-12 weeks old. That's the pre-birth plan for kicking her out of our room (I slept much better once we weren't room-sharing/cosleeping). But I will follow along for other ideas.

Have they from the start? Or later on? Started later on. DD1 was not quite 3.5, DD2 was 15/16 months.

How did the adjustment go? The first night was easy. The second night we aborted two hours into it because they were not sleeping but screaming. After that we've done separate bedtimes and it's been fine. My younger one has started taking a bit longer to settle, she used to lay down and fall asleep within two minutes and now it's closer to 20-30. I think that might be because they ripped the blackout shade down and now the room isn't dark enough at her bedtime. My older one is actually going to bed better now than before. She's really respectful of her sleeping sister and has never woken her up.

Do you have any regrets? None. Maybe not fixing their shades yet. Lazy.
