They both have their own rooms right now but we have 4 bedrooms and want to keep one as an office so DS1 and DS2 will start sharing this spring before DS3 arrives.

@bhbee: We have the same ages too! We just moved him to a twin bed in her/their room. They are doing great together.

Honestly bedtime hasn't taken that much longer.

@My Only Sunshine: mine just started sharing! Girl just turned 5 boy just turned 2 (still in crib). They share on trips to family and loved it (well sister did and brother likes anything she does) so we put a daybed in his room and let her move in. She loves having a friend! I'm not sure how long it will last but maybe 2 years? If we have #3 someone has to share in our house. Right now sisters room still has all her stuff she just doesn't sleep there - mainly because I'm waiting to see it baby happens before I finalize anything.

My 5 and 2 year old do. They still like it, but I hate it. You can't have one kid wake up without waking the other. :/

@autumnlove: My 1 and 4 year olds (b/g) share a room and love it. I think they are more comfortable having someone nearby and I've never loved cosleeping, so it's a good situation for us. I don't know if it made a difference but our kids have a good relationship so far as well. I'm not worried at all about them being opposite genders- it's way too early to care about that. It helped to talk to someone in my family who raised five well adjusted teen-adults and also had them room share.. she saw all the positives that I am seeing. At first it was something we just had to live with but now I think they would share for the time being even if we had another bedroom!

@Freckles: sleep is great but they just take a little longer to fall asleep since they chat first!

I'm curious if there are any boy-girl room sharers. My 3 year old daughter is dying for her baby brother to share a room with her. We know a lot of room sharing siblings, although all of them are the same gender.

He's only 8 months right now, but if she's still asking to share a room with him when he's a little older, we might give it a try when they're little. She's the kind of kid that says she's lonely in the night.

@autumnlove: @ValentineMommy: @Mrs. Yoyo: How is the sleep going? LO1 (4.5) and LO2 (2) have their own rooms and LO2 is still in a crib. We'll be moving to a different city temporarily and entertaining the idea of a 2 bedroom. But i'm worried about shenanigans and disruptive sleep!

My boys do -- they're 5 and 3. For the most part, it works well! If they want their own space when they're older, we can get rid of the playroom and turn it back into a bedroom.

Who shares a room right now?

My 5 and 3.5 year old currently share a room and they both love it. LO 3 has her own room and we use the other bedroom as an office. I wonder when LO 1 will want her own room...I suggested it the other day and she said she wants to share until she is 16. (Haha, yeah right!)
