I had to go to an endodentist. Honestly, if I knew how great I was going to feel afterwards, I'd have done it ASAP. It wasn't bad and I felt soooooo much better after it was all done! I had to get a root canal done after they had placed the permanent crown on the tooth. I was super nervous, but the worst part about the procedure is how long you have to keep your mouth open. I didn't have to take any antibiotics, and had absolutely no issues afterwards. Just popped some Tylenol and ibuprofen and I was good to go. And the best part, no more tooth aches afterwards! I have genetically poor teeth. Its awful. They are as white as can be, but cavitives galore. I finally found a fabulously conservative dentist that isn't agressive with drilling. Anyhow... root canals are bearable. I find the drilling in the tooth to be the worst thing. But you don't really feel any pain. I do have a horror story of a root canal gone wrong the ultimately resulted in an apicoectomy (OMG, don't google it). The infection would make the tooth very sensitive and would cause the numbing medications to wear of very quickly, and therefore cause some pain. </p> <p>I had one done about 10 years ago. It was painless but it seemed to take forever. More irritating than anything! Just take some ibuprofen after and you'll be good. Honestly, the worst pain is the novocaine wearing off.
