@Thehistoryofus: you're right... I think the catheter was tough to watch too. In our case, a resident tried to put it in first (which I was fine with being that I'm familiar with teaching hospitals), but then she "couldn't" get it in, despite the nurse telling her exactly where to go. Augh.... torture to watch... I wanted to just do it myself (I'm a nurse). Thank goodness the nurse just quickly took over and that was that. I felt so bad though!

so sorry... my first DD had the stomach flu at 7 months when she first went to daycare. we never found out if it was rotavirus specifically, but it was a terrible illness nonetheless... and DH and I got it too, which made it even more worse (the three of us sick all at the same time!). at the time however (2008), the rotavirus vaccine wasn't routinely offered.

ETA: recovery time for that was about a week.

my 2nd DD has been in the ER for IV fluids too before... it was for something else, but it really sucks to see them get poked and prodded.

hope she feels better soon!

My LO got rotavirus this weekend probably from daycare. It started with vomiting and then turned to a week of diarrhea. No fun. She ended up in the ER getting IV fluids. She was so pitiful. Has anyone else had this? What was recovery time?
