I'm prefering the one that pays a little less at the outset, which is the one that offers comission. I've worked on a salary+comission basis before and did well. It'll actually be selling wedding gowns which I did for two years before I got married. It'll be considerably more stable which I think I need right now, and there may be the potential to do some assistant manager-ish stuff soon. Even though I don't like the idea of working every Saturday, Hubs would be willing to shift his schedule so that he works Saturdays too, giving us a little more time together.

Congrats on the multiple offers! I know that I wouldn't be comfortable with a commission but you may be. I agree with Mr. Bee that going with your gut is probably the best thing.

For complex decisions, I usually start off with my gut sense and try to figure out why I prefer it. Once I can explain why I like an option better, I'm usually in a better place to determine which option to go with!

Do you have a gut sense for which option would be most workable?

Things changed this week! I interviewed two positions, one in merchandising and one at a new bridal salon (experienced at both). And they both want me! This is the boost that I needed, but now I need to decide how to handle this. One is for part-time for a few weeks and then full-time while the other is willing to give me full-time. One would require driving 5 miles one day, up to 50 another. The other is 25 miles away. One pays great hourly. The other is less, but offers generous comission. One would require me to work at least one weekend a month. The othe would have me work Saturdays but would give me most Sundays off. I am so torn on what to do! Any advice?

@maisymay I am so sorry to hear about your job. That is really crappy to eliminate someone and not tell them. I'll pray you find something soon. I was in the same kind of predicament when we originally wanted to TTC so I know how stressful it can be.

Oh my gosh @maisymay, I'm so sorry. That's a horrible way to be laid off. I'm glad to hear that you have something at least part time now. I have a couple of other friends looking right now and there are jobs out there, there are just a lot of applicants. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find something permanent soon!!

@tequiero - Yeah, As much as I've adored my boss, I can't say that I like her much right now. She definitely lacked professionalism on this one. I had to email her boss before I heard back from her. I wonder how long it would have taken to hear anything if I hadn't gotten ahold of her boss...

I was an independent contractor for a textbook company, and my boss would let me know when she needed me (usually about 30-35 hours a week). About three weeks ago she dropped off of the face of the Earth, to the point that I emailed her boss to find out what is going on. I got an email today saying that they've eliminated my position across the state, and that she's sorry that she didn't tell me because she's been so busy. I don't have a job any more.

I got a new job recently, also indep. contractor, that is super part time, and so I need a new job now. This is a sucky time to be looking as you all know. Back to the job search I go. Ugh!
