Hugs! This is normal. My oldest was 21 months when we brought baby home and it took about 6 weeks to adjust. During that time there was a LOT of tantrums, hitting us, acting out, and timeouts. But things do and will get better. <3

Mine was 20 months, and we had a really rough patch with a lot of screaming, kicking, hitting, biting, clinginess with the baby and I. It passed! But it did not seem like it was going to when we were in it.

I think it's the age too. DD is 18 months and wants nothing to do with me lately. And while I'm pregnant, there's no new baby yet.

You're a wonderful mom and I'm sure this is just a phase. The first few weeks after bringing DS home DD was acting out a LOT. I felt like she hit the terrible twos overnight and that I had ruined her life and our relationship (post partum hormones didn't help). Everything evened out quickly and I know that a baby brother is the biggest gift that we could have given her, even if it wasn't easy at first.

hugs!

No experience because LO2 isn't here yet, but I'm sure it's just a phase. I hope things get better for you soon!

We didn't have that issue but my son was 2.5 years old when DD was born. I'm sure it's just a phase. My son is actually more clingy now after DD was born and wants to cuddle more and sleep in our bed.

Since we got home last Friday with DD2, DD1 has only sought me out once (she crawled on my lap because she wanted to watch Mickey Mouse clubhouse). Otherwise she hasn't voluntarily let me read to her, hug her, hasn't come to me, etc. I've tried engaging her while she plays. I feel like I've tried everything. I am recovering from a c-section and she is a big 18 month old so I can't really pick her up much.

Today I tried to put a clip in her hair to keep her bangs out of her eyes and she practically screamed for my mom. :crying:

I knew it was probably going to be a rough transition bringing DD2 home but the only thing that seems to be changed is that she won't come anywhere near me and is more clingy with her dad and nana.

Please tell me this will change. I feel like a failure as a parent
