My cousin (their daughter) just had a baby in October. Most of my cousins on my dad's side are 10ish years older than my sister and I, so we are still treated as little kids. I went to hold the baby and my mom said "watch her head now!" and the entire room watched me like a hawk. </p> <p>I was sooo pissed because I work in early childhood. I teach pre-k but during the summers, I work at a daycare and I'm in the infant room a lot. You know, mom's who hardly even know me trust me to hold their 6 week old babies and care for them, but my family thinks I'm too young /incompetent. I'm talking an entire room of about 15 people who were engaged with something else turned to stare. I knew what they were all thinking, but my uncle had the gall to actually say "Boy Moderndaisy I have to say I really like how you look holding a baby"</p> <p>They were all waiting, staring and judging every move I made with the baby and the room erupted with laughter when she started to get fussy and I didn't know what to do. My Mom in a very condescending way grabbed her out of my arms and started burping her. She made a big show of it that was clearly meant to demonstrate how much of an expert she was compared to me. Thanks for reminding me I'm not pregnant yet.<br /> 2. Do I seriously look pregnant? I'm a size 4. Come on.<br /> 3. This is not that much food. And most of it is vegetables. So why would you say that?<br /> 4. If I were pregnant and not ready to announce, it would STILL be a rude question. </p> <p>Ugh. What kind of comments have you had to deal with? </p>
