Agree too big is better than too small. Also- 8x10 Riggs are usually a lot more expensive than smaller ones! Is it over hard wood? More rug means more padding for drops and falls. I've seen it done most often in living rooms. It could dominate the room, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! The biggest thing for me would be whether it got in the way of furniture against the wall.
