You have to also remember that the rubber in shoes break down over time. ALso if i start to feel knee pain i usually know it's because of the shoe. I usually wait until my feet start hurting, and then wait a little longer. I'm cheap. It ends up being once a year, but I should really do it every 6-9 months. The employee said to evaluate around 400 miles. Also, I had no idea that you are supposed to buy a size up to make room for your feet to swell while running, so my new shoes feel roomy and comfortable! When I was marathon training I'd change shoes every 3 or 4 months since I was running about 100 miles per month.
