<description>&#60;p&#62;These are really good points. I appreciate the perspectives!  I'm thinking I may sign up for the 5k instead (I could walk it if need be), and see how I feel after LO is here. It's a $20 race, so I won't be out a lot if I can't do it due to exhaustion, pain, or breastfeeding/timing issues.  Sounds like the 10k could be a bit too ambitious.

<description>&#60;p&#62;I wouldn't, personally. You're not likely to be rested enough, first. You'll likely have lost much of your endurance, and that's way too soon to have it back. I think that the extent to which pregnancy and the newborn stage knocks you out can be really hard to imagine before you've done it - but it is huge. My baby actually STTN at 7 weeks, and I know that at 3 months I still wouldn't have been anywhere near my old self. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Also, consider the time factor. My baby was born almost two weeks late, and she spent a week in the hospital after that. So almost a month after her due date, she'd barely been home a week. I was certainly not trying to exercise in those first few weeks. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;If the registration isn't much, or if you can transfer it if need be, I'd say go for it. But I'd have hated to be financially committed to something big at that point.

<description>&#60;p&#62;I jut started running again at 7 weeks pp and am planning on doing a 5k in may.  So I'm starting back pretty slow. I've leaked pee every time I've ran so far :(&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I think it's something  you will have to determine after the fact. You never know how your recovery will go! Hopefully it's very easy!

<description>&#60;p&#62;Also think about whether or not you will be breastfeeding. For example, if you used to get up early and run and want to do that before LO wakes, you will need to pump first. Do you have someone that will be able to watch your LO when you go run?  My husband worked long hours and I would often want to go to bed not long after he got home. Many people go to sleep really early, knowing they will be up a few times in the middle of the night?  I ran a fair amount prior to getting pregnant and continued doing about 12 miles a week until week 20 when it was just too hot here. I had a c section, so I believe I wasn't cleared for exercise until 8 weeks PP. I could not have run a 10k 3 months PP. That said, everyone is different and I think it would be good to have a goal to work toward!

&#60;p&#62;I was an avid runner (half marathons and  1 marathon) before i got pregnant, and continued to run but at a lower weekly mileage (15-20k per week) while i was pregnant. Unfortunately i stopped at 8 weeks because it got waaay too hot in my city and i was having major pelvic pain.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I had an episiotomy and major pelvic floor prolapse. Walking for more than an hour had me leak pee! I had to go through physio and didn't get the okay to start running until 3 months after having the baby. I ran my first 5k 5 months post-partum, but i did it under 30 minutes. :) &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I don't think i'll be at the speed i was before i got pregnant, but i'm hoping to at least run a half marathon before i have my next baby.

<description>&#60;p&#62;I was a frequent runner pre-pregnancy and probably at my best when we conceived. I did not run during my pregnancy, I was just way too lazy! I am now 9 months post partum and I can run probably 5k. For the longest time my groin and adductors were SO sore and weak. I also had lots of hip pain which hurt the more I walked. I try to stretch a lot and gradually getting back into the swing of things but it's been a slow painful process. I hope you are able to recover really quickly!

<description>&#60;p&#62;I consider myself to be a pretty decent athlete, and in the 4 months before I conceived LO I ran a marathon and did a week-long bike tour (~500mi).  I had some bleeding early in my pregnancy, so took a couple weeks off, tried to keep running sporadically for awhile, but ended up just doing a lot of elliptical up until I delivered at 41 weeks. I figured I'd quickly get back into running post partum....&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;...but then I had the baby.  And I was sore.  And I was tired and stressed.  I did a lot of walking, but I didn't actually run again until 6 weeks after.  Despite having been in such good shape and not having gained much weight/lost it all quickly, it just felt terrible to run.  It's amazing how much core strength you lose and how much you use that when running!!&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Everyone's experience is different, and it's definitely not impossible to do a 10k a couple months after the baby.  But I'd keep your expectations low and know that there may be some (maybe a lot!) of walking.

<description>&#60;p&#62;I ran through most of my pregnancy but 3rd trimester was closer to walking with a few jogs thrown in there.  I started jogging again about 3 weeks after LO was born and I felt like I was running at 8 months pregnant.  It felt like pregnancy in reverse but quicker.  I wouldn't expect that you'd be back in tip top running form in September but as long as everything goes well you'll probably be able to do the race no problem.

<description>&#60;p&#62;So, before I got pregnant, I was somewhat of a frequent runner. I had only been running for less than a year, but I had participated in several 5ks and a 10k, and I probably ran about 3-4 times a week. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I've been on pelvic rest this entire pregnancy, so I haven't run since October. My favorite race is being held at the end of September, and it's a 10k. Registration goes very quickly, so I need to decide soon. I really want to do it!  LO is due at the very beginning of July. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Am I being too ambitious?  Any moms out there have any input on running/exercising post baby, and how long it took to get back into the swing of things?  I'm fine with walking at times if need be, but I don't want to get in over my head, either!
