I ran a lot before I got pregnant! One of my biggest accomplishments was finishing the Tough Mudder back in October. I'll probably never do another again...now that I will have a child! I am not too familiar with couch to 5k, but i know several people who have had success with it. I guess it all depends on your level of fitness. I would recommend doing a 1:2 ratio to begin with--1 minute jogging, 2 minutes walking, keep that up until you can increase it to 2:3, and then go to 2:1. keep an eye on your target heart rate as well and make sure you are always working within it!

I'm a big runner too, congrats on getting started....I think @wallaroo had some good advice about getting proper shoes (I used to work at a running store like that and it really does make a difference!) Otherwise, just take it slow and don't up your mileage too quickly in order to avoid an overuse injury!

I'm doing Couch to 5k... On week 2 right now. I've done it a few times in the past. Before getting pregnant the second time, I just finished Bridge to 10k. Hope to get to that point and beyond this time around!! I love running... It's my "me" time!

I'm a runner! I've done 4 different 5k's since last Summer and I really want to do a 10k one day. I'm really short (and have super short legs), so I'm definitely not fast at all, but I do enjoy running a lot. I even got DH into running, which he previously hated! I haven't ran since I got my BFP last Friday, but I do think I'm going to start again once I feel up to it (I've been super tired lately).

Congrats on doing the Couch to 5k program! My biggest tip for a newbie is to get properly fitted for running shoes at your local running store where they can analyze your gait and foot strike. They can recommend the proper shoe for you to run in. This definitely helps keep injuries at bay and keeps your feet nice and comfortable. Socks are also important. Stay away from regular cotton socks as the friction can cause unwanted blisters. Also dri-fit/wicking/breathable fabrics are a runner's best friend.

I am running a half marathon this weekend and will be 7 weeks. Looking forward to seeing how different this experience will be from my other races. I know I will enjoy it more since there isn't any pressure to get a PR or certain time.

Awesome! 10k is wicked! I'm aiming for 5k by the end of the summer - not a race....just completing a 5k run haha. I have fibromyalgia though, so I've been having a LOT of setbacks.

Sort of! I used to run, but then I had some back problems and the physiotherapist said running probably aggravated it.

I just started again (today!) so we'll see how it goes. I'm planning on signing up for a 10k in the fall!!!!

Three weeks ago I started the Couch to 5K program, and so far I LOVE it. Are there any other Bee runners out there? Any tips for a newbie, or questions for a veteran?
