@tejbee: Awww I'm sorry! The same thing happened to me last month - apart from the running bit hehe! I had so many symptoms and really sore boobs that I never usually get. I swore I would def get a BFP but then AF came and ruined everything

Thanks for posting this though because I've always wondered about this myself!

I agree, I probably wasn't lucky enough for it to stick this time either. My boobs were SO swollen and sore, though--I hadn't been experiencing any AF symptoms like that in a long while so I was hoping it was a promising sign this time... *sigh* back to square one.

I'm sorry, but it just sounds like you weren't pregnant. If AF wasn't due for another 3 days, then I'm guessing you were 11DPO? Unfortunately AF symptoms can seem exactly like PG symptoms due to changing hormones.

I really appreciate all the responses, ladies! I'm going to guess that it just didn't stick this time like we were hoping. It was definitely shy of 30 minutes in the machinery space each time I ran. Your mind goes crazy thinking of everything when you're trying to get pregnant ;)

I'm sorry for your loss. I don't think running even in heat will have much effect though

@tejbee: well, first of all: how long were you in there? We're talking, you'd need to be down there AWHILE before it would harm you. And we're talking like, really warm. Hotube type warm...
Also: it is more than likely to cause 2 things: some of sort of birth defect (God forbid!) or pre-term labor if you were further along. The preterm labor would stem from the dehydration that can come from overheating more so than the overheating.
I think, it was too early to harm anything and it was not enough of a workout to harm anything.
My guess is either: you are still in the game
or you MC'd for another unrelated reason
or you were not pregnant this month anyways but may have been experiencing irritated cervix due to BDing more this month.

There is no way to know if you were actually pregnant... it could be possible you just are having a shorter cycle. The shorter cycle could be caused by your getting back in to running, as changes in exercise are a very common cause of an early or late period.

During TWW, i did spin, ran minimum 30k/week, and yoga 6-7x a week. It was during the summer.

The only time i stopped running was when it reached 30 degrees (celsius). I get hot pretty quickly, but i was fine.

@TurtleDoves: " as long as your body core temp doesn't rise too much."

...uh-oh. Our treadmill at work is in a machinery space. It's pretty hot in there already...

What about running in a heated environment? Could overheating be a problem you think? Our treadmill isn't exactly in the coolest location...there's machinery that keeps the space hot already.

I am so sorry that this is happening! I hope it is not a miscarriage.
I always have ovulation and implantation spotting. I spot A LOT. Never enough for a tampon, but enough to scare me *every* time. I hope it is just that and not anything bad.

NO-Running will not *cause* a miscarriage. But, do you run regularly? If not, that could cause strain to the cervix if you just never ran and busted out and ran 5 miles.
But you didn't.
If implantation has not even occurred, then running def couldn't have hurt you.
I will say this much though, maybe it was a progesterone issues, which can get worse with physical activity. Not enough progesterone can can failure to implant.
I ran from before O day to 9w (I only stopped because I had morning sickness) and started up again at 35 weeks. It never hurt me and exercise is encouraged during pregnancy as long as your body core temp doesn't rise too much.

How far past ovulation are you? Could have been implantation, if in fact you were going to get pregnant this cycle.

Thanks for the reply. I know it's not very far to run, but like I said, it's been years. ;)

And I really really thought I was going to get a BFP this time! Just so sad. :(

I'm so sorry. I ran during my TWW, and ran six miles the day before I got my BFP. I don't think running would prevent a pregnancy.

Those aren't extreme distances even though you hadn't been running regularly so I really doubt it was related. If your cervix was sensitive (maybe from BD'ing), exercise could cause spotting, but that still shouldn't have been enough to prevent a pregnancy. Sorry lady.

I could have sworn it stuck this time.

My boobs really swelled up and were incredibly more sore than they've been before. I had spotting and fatigue.

I also hadn't gone running in years and had plans to get back on the treadmill. I ran a mile one day, 1.5 the next, and two miles a couple days later.

After the two mile run I stripped down to take a shower and saw red mixed with my running sweat on my underwear. I hoped it was just implantation bleeding. After my shower I put in a super tampon and soaked it in less than six hours. Soaked through another super in the next six hours. Looks like a period to me, damn. I wasn't expecting my period for another three days.

Could my running have jeopardized getting a sticky baby this time? I swear I thought I was pregnant and I was just going to wait a few more days before testing...

Damn damn damn.
