It sounds to me like a tummy bug?

If you are EPing I would actually think he's getting a perfect balance of foremilk / himdmilk unless you aren't pumping to empty.

@birdofafeather: I think it might have had to do with the nursing tea I was drinking, since it has fenugreek in it! I haven't seen a poop yet since I stopped taking it, but when I added MMP to my regimen on Monday, he suddenly started having diarrhea and gas. So I dropped both the MMP and the tea and we'll see how it goes.

He did have an intestinal bug last week, but I don't think that's what was going on before. He was diagnosed with RSV about two weeks ago, so it could have been that, too!

So many variables when it comes to poop!

My LO used to have the green poops around that age. It was around when I tried switching sides more frequently. So I think it could be a hindmilk thing. I don't think it's diarrhea because its not frequent.

LO started daycare last week, which means that he now gets 3 bottles of pumped milk a day plus a morning nurse, evening nurse, and 1-2 nighttime nursings. EBF all weekend. He's 13 weeks.

He started having fewer daily BMs a week or so before starting daycare, so we generally don't see any during the week and just know he's having them because they log a couple while at daycare. But this weekend he had one on Saturday and one on Sunday and they were both runny, mucousy, dark green and kinda smelly.

The frequency makes me think it's not diarrhea, and daycare hasn't noted anything unusual with his BM over the past week. He's acting fine otherwise. Could this be a foremilk/hindmilk issue due to the pumped milk?

I make sure to pump at least 20 minutes and can see the milk getting thicker, it settles with "cream on top" so I know there is hindmilk in there, but perhaps he's not getting as much as he's used to? He also only feeds off one side when he wakes at night, and for shorter periods of time than usual (falls asleep in the middle) so maybe that combined with the fact that he's not getting both sides and full feedings during the day like usual, means he's not getting enough hindmilk?

Or could it still be diarrhea/something intestinal he picked up at daycare even though it's only happening once a day? 1-2 times a day is a normal frequency for him. We went ahead and sent him this morning because he's been acting and eating fine, but I'll feel bad if we shouldn't have... ;)
