@locavore_mama: @FutureMrsMcK: @TurtleDoves: @MamaJ: @tysonja: Thanks for the positive spin on starting solids. I still have about 3-4 weeks before we start, but I just keep seeing her grow and every day... it's like time is slipping away too fast!

@Purpledaisy: Thanks for commiserating! I feel the same!

We are about 3 weeks away from being six months and I am so sad about starting solids! Everyone always seems so excited to start solids and I'm over here being depressed about it. I just want her to stay a baby for longer!

for us, the poop was way better once he started solids --easier to clean up :) but he was also mostly FF, so that makes a difference i think! :)

hopefully the fun of seeing your LO enjoy new tastes will offset the rest! :) can't believe your LO is almost 6 months!! great job mama!!

I felt the same way. Honestly it isn't so bad once you get started. The good thing is like @TurtleDoves: said is that when you are out you can just give them solids. Which means I have more time to be out before he needs to nurse because I don't nurse in public. The poop is better because it is way easier to clean... however it is WAY stinkier. haha

I felt the same way, but honestly? It is SO MUCH FUN doing solids with them. It is priceless to introduce them to new tastes and see their little face light up. It always *melts* my heart when my baby loves my cooking. I mean, I cook dinner and baby is GULPING mama's food down like there's no tomorrow. It makes me feel so loved.
Also...side note: it makes life so much easier. Sometimes, I'll forget to pack a bottle and we will be out shopping or something. I'll just stop at a coffee shop and order a yogurt or some cottage cheese and feed LO. It has saved me numerous times.

I definitely felt that way. I was really dreading it. But then we started, and it was so much fun to watch him taste something for the very first time and to introduce him to flavors that I've loved all of my life and take for granted.

And I actually prefer the solid poop. It doesn't smell as nice as BM poop, but I think in general it's a lot easier to clean up. Usually a nice, condensed log that I can easily shake into the toilet (we CD) instead of loose splatters. I just don't breathe in through nose, lol!

There's no hard fast rule that you HAVE to start at 6! Is your LO showing interest in food?

Watching LO eat and try new foods is one of my biggest joys. I can literally watch her eat during the whole meal and not eat myself and be fine. It's so much fun watching her expressions as she tries new foods, spices and textures. I've got a foodie in training!

We're a few weeks away from 6 months and I've been prepping and buying stuff to get ready to start solids. But I'm really NOT excited about starting solids. I'm not looking forward to constipation, grosser poop, and what seems like the beginning of the end to my baby being a "baby". I would delay it as long as possible if I could, but people have told me they need iron and get texture aversions later if I don't start. I'm wondering if I should wait until almost 6.5 months, since that's our next ped visit. He didn't say anything about starting solids at our last visit.

But really, truly, I'm sad because I think starting solids really means she's growing up too fast! Wah! Anyone else felt that way?
