I really enjoyed my MW... we weren't the best of fit, but she still provided me with the best of care (at the time of my pregnancy she was the ONLY MW servicing our area).</p> <p>Tbh, since we're switching care providers I feel like I"m "cheating" on my MW... Make sure you call as soon as you get a BFP.</p> <p>@highwire: I'm sorry you had a crappy experience :( My care was transferred to an OB when I required an induction (and ultimately a c-section) at 42 weeks and he was a real jerk ( as was his resident who I saw for a follow up the other day. She Le tired me for going to 42 weeks and told me I was lucky I had a c-section since I ended up having a "giant" baby...DD was 8lbs 4oz...). It's great you have that opportunity to check in and say hello.</p> <p>@mewtill: I saw my midwife again at one of the local arts festivals and it was so fun to catch up and for her to get to see LO. My midwife was such a positive, happy part of my pregnancy. Like @lindseykaye: I still get to see her for my annual visits (she's part of a OB practice). I told my husband I will only have another child if I can have my midwife!</p> <p>We went to dinner last week and saw her there. After seeing her so frequently and going through such a transformative event with her I was sad to see that connection end.</p> <p>But, I get to see my midwife again at least once a year for my annual exam. Maybe that is an option for you if she offers those services? It was also our discharge appointment...no more midwife :( I feel like I'm kind of mourning the loss of her in our lives! She was so, so awesome. I quite like our family doctor, so it's not like we have to move to a care provider I dislike but, for me, nothing is as awesome or empowering as the midwifery model of care. I'll miss the hour-long appointments, the chats, the home visits, being able to call anytime to ask questions and just having a care provider with whom I have a personal relationship.</p> <p>We may need to have another baby just so I can hang out with my midwife again...hahaha! </p>
