I'm not really worried about my makeup but where possible I have been changing to more natural products. I did read that certain acne treatments and face washes shouldn't be used so that I am a little more careful about.. but regular makeup I don't think is necessary to change unless it's something out of the ordinary (like I'd be nervous to try those lip plumping things.)

The only change I made was to stop using a salicylic acid acne cream on my face, on the advice of my OB. I used my usual drugstore/sephora products throughout my pregnancy.

I generally avoid parabens and phthalates whether pregnant or not, but I haven't changed anything specifically for pregnancy.

I swapped out my moisturizer and cleanser to salicylic acid free ones but I didn't change anything else. I honestly think some pregnancy "dangers" are ridiculously over the top.

I take most things like that with a huge grain of salt. I obviously stopped things like retin-a, but everything else is the same. My skin is finicky and break-out prone, and I'm sensitive to fragrance so I avoid certain products anyway.

I used all of my usual products (face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation, mascara). I remember looking into whether I needed to change my face wash to one without salicylic acid, but I don't believe I ever made the switch. The only thing I dropped was taking an oral medication for acne since it's never been proven to be safe (or unsafe, for that matter) during pregnancy.

@Littlebit7: Same. I only stopped retinol/vitamin A/ salicylic acid products since I was told those explicitly can cause birth defects.
But I also have friends who used them throughout pregnancy and all was fine.

I changed my sunscreen and stopped using products with retinol during my pregnancy, but I think that was all I did.

A friend gave me BioOil products to help prevent stretchmarks but my research concluded those weren't good for use during pregnancy so I didn't use them.

Don't worry about acetate...the article was talking about mercury acetates. Acetate is the "salt" ionic form of vinegar and wouldn't be the issue - it's the mercury it wants you to avoid.

I use Blue Lizard sunscreen. Makeup/skincare brands that are good for your skin- Herbivore Botanicals, Moonrise Creek, Well Beauty, Glossier... in this day and age, it's really not hard to find products without junk in them. They cost more, but worth it imo.

similar to @Mrs D: I've been checking out EWG for years and trying to lower the amount of chemicals I bring into the house for beauty stuff as well as cleaning.

After trying a ton of sunscreens, I like Blue lizard and thinkbaby the best! They go on well and the think baby smells great.

I've also been gradually changing all my skin care products to safer ones. With that said, I'm not particularly bothered if something I'm using while pregnant isn't the most safe.

I have been gradually changing everything to safer brands - mostly just from research I have been doing. I have looked up all my current (well at that time) products on http://www.ewg.com and gradually shifted based on the results. I have found a few good brands of things and also taken to making some stuff myself.

For makeup and sunscreen specifically I have moved to Beauty Counter...

I changed my sunscreen and face wash/moisturizer to more natural brands, but that's really because it's the only thing that didn't make my skin freak out. But I kept using my regular makeup.

I try to avoid parabens anyway but if one sneaks into a product I don't let it keep me up at night.

The Bump app articles are scaring me. Today it says ingredients in my foundation and mascara are both potentially hazardous, paraben and acetate respectively. How serious of a thing is this? I hadn't heard of it until now other than knowing that people with sensitive skin avoid some of these, and I hate to buy all new everything if it's not a danger to the baby since these ingredients never bothered me. Obviously safety is most important, but I just want to be sure it's not the kind of filler they use to generate content so frequently. My doc's office gave me a booklet of info that covers what to avoid or do generally that makes me think it's the kind of thing to avoid if you have sensitive skin or want to be very cautious, but it's not a generally required kind of thing. The other day the Bump had an article about which sunscreen chemicals to avoid, and the doc's office booklet specifically says to use any over the counter sunscreen you like.

Did you change your makeup or sunscreen?
