@pmerr: Eat it!!!!!!! With LO#1 I did not know about soft cheeses and ate it all the time!

LO#2 I knew and still ate it!

@kiddosc: YES! I think about that all the time, I keep hearing outbreaks in things that are "safe" and not in things that are listed as No Nos

"Leave the gun, take the cannoli." (sorry, couldn't resist)

I'd eat it for the reasons mentioned. Listeria outbreaks always seem to be random stuff like frozen peas.

The last several listeria outbreaks have been from spinach, bagged salad, frozen berries, ice cream, hummus, and canteloupe... none of the foods that women are cautioned against when they're pregnant because they might contract listeria. Eat the cannoli.

@pmerr: It's only unsafe if it's unpasteurized and there's no way a deli/cafe would be serving unpasteurized ricotta. Eat it!!

Ummm I just eat whatever I want when I'm pregnant :silly: including sushi from reputable, fresh places! I wouldn't limit my cheeses either if I wanted it! That's just my personal opinion :)

Like @Foodnerd81 said - its fine as long as its pasteurized and its really hard to find unpasteurized cheeses in the US. Enjoy!

@Foodnerd81: It's from a deli/restaurant. Nothing fancy, and I could probably assume that it's safe, but who knows. Maybe i'll eat some and eat most of the shell. It's chocolate covered!

I was always told any cheese is fine as long as it's made from pasteurized milk. So maybe super fresh ricotta from a fancy Italian place would be unpasteurized but I think it would generally be fine. Eat the cannoli!

This is such a silly post, so sorry! I've seen some semi mixed opinions on ricotta cheese and if it's safe to eat or not. (well, my Ovia app says no, but then I just read some websites said yes). I have a cannoli sitting in front of me, that I want to make sure is ok to eat it?
