@grizz: I'll just come right out and say it . . . what a BITCH! And yeah, I don't care if she is a mom or not, anyone with a brain (who bothered to use it) would realize what an insensitive, callous comment that was. No filter does not equal no excuse.

@daniellemybelle: I don't plan on starting anything til at least 6 weeks, but will do WW too starting at 12-16 weeks. Everything else was just so complicated for us - pregnancy, labor/delivery, BF-ing - that I was hoping SOMETHING would come easy for me, like losing the weight. Oh well :)

trust me you will get back, 2 weeks is still so so soon! lots of it is prob water weight and bloating. def give yourself more time and cut yourself some slack....you just gave birth and your body has been through alot! i bet by 12 weeks most of that weight will be gone!

@grizz: I agree with everyone else that you should go easy on yourself right now. At the same time, I can totally relate to how you feel. My weight loss stalled at 2 weeks PP. Now I'm 5 weeks PP and I still haven't lost any more weight - I'm 30lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight! I too am giving myself to 6 weeks PP but then I need to do something!

Two weeks, lady? Cut yourself some serious slack!

I will say that while I haven't had my LO yet, I plan to join WW after she's born. As others have said, they account for nursing, and overall I think its the easiest diet plan to stick to. Less stress & guilt is a good thing for a new mama! I really recommend it and hope you join that group.

Oh, and your friend is cray. I was way fatter than my wedding pictures before I even got pregnant and if someone said that to me I probably would smack them and then cry!

@grizz: I get she isn't a Mom, but seriously?!? Who says that someone??? I am sorry. And there are plenty of women that are even skinnier after baby due to breast feeding.

I just joined WW to lose my baby weight. Only up two lbs but my regular pants still don't fit.

I think im just extra sensitive today because one of my friends made the comment that I look 'halfway skinny' again, and asked if it made me sad to have our wedding pics up all over our house since I might never look like that again. She wasn't being mean, but she's never had a baby and she also has absolutely no filter.

DH is making me promise him that if I won't think about it til I go back to work at 12-16 weeks he'll take care of stocking our house with only clean, healthy stuff. I'm thinking of joining the Weight Watchers group for nursing moms at my work when I go back. I don't want to do anything that would compromise BFing!

For BF, you're supposed to wait *at least* 8 weeks before trying any kind of dieting to make sure your supply is well established. But seriously, cut yourself some slack and just live in each moment. My first 12 weeks (maternity leave) was the only time in my life I was ever really *present* every day. I am so so grateful I let myself enjoy the time and focus on my LO and my new family.

Really, cut yourself some slack. You just had a baby! I didn't do any dieting until 12 weeks pp then I joined WW. I shed 20 lbs in the 3 months that I did it. I guess I would just try and eat as healthy as you can but still take in enough calories for nursing.

I agree with everyone else: it's too soon to be worrying about all that. Wait at least a month to start any kind of exercise regimen. The Paleo diet is good, though. I stopped eating (so much) sugar and yeast-y things (bread) because I was worried about thrush, and turns out my diet ended up looking a lot like a Paleo diet. I lost 5 lbs in about a week just from that.

I didn't do a thing other than nurse and I was back to my PP body (flat stomach and all) by 9 months. I know it sounds like such a long time but it felt so great to just let it happen naturally and spend time with LO not worrying about my weight.

If you're in a hurry, I know going paleo can work wonders and doesnt affect supply since you still eat a lot, you just basically cut out carbs and sugar (and dairy. But I could never do that!). Start walking, slowly, and then maybe ease into speed walking and then jogging.

But really....I wouldn't worry too much about it. You have your whole life to get your body back....enjoy these precious moments.

Give it time for sure...also, you lose the most weight from breastfeeding between 3 and 6 months so even if it slows down in a few weeks, it will likely pick back up again!

Give it more time! Two weeks PP is a lot of fluid. It'll keep coming off with BFing. Just eat healthy for now! At 6 weeks pp, I started exercising and at 8 weeks pp, I started eating paleo/primal and its coming off fast! Aside from clogged ducts affecting my supply, mine has remained constant (which is lower than what she eats but its been like that from the beginning)

Yikes 2 weeks?! Girl try to take it easy - you're not even allowed to do exercise til closer to 6 weeks, supply or not. it will continue to slowly fall off as you breastfeed, but your body really does need time to recover. Your uterus is shrinking, your skin is pulling back. your hormones are totally out of whack. Give it another month.

But that being said, once I pull my sh*t together, I'll be doing Paleo - not cutting or counting calories, but cutting out mostly just breads and sugars. Hoping to start working out soon too.

I definitely agree with others. Give yourself at least 6 weeks. You are adjusting to new life in all kinds of ways, and you have a gaping wound in your body from having a baby. It is extremely important for you and for your baby to give yourself time to heal and regain strength. You don't want to add stress by jeopardizing your supply for diet and exercise.

I agree with the above posters. I found that my supply took a dip on days where i didn't eat as much. If you're breastfeeding, i would put dieting as a low priority in the first 6 weeks when you're trying to establish your supply.

Have you thought about making better food choices, such as eating foods higher in fibre/protein rather than high carb foods? Daily walks help a lot too!

Yeah, you really need to give it 6 weeks before dieting in any way. If you try before that point your supply can be really compromised in an unfixable way. I'd suggest being as active as you can be, eating the best food you can, and calling it good.

I found that the weight seemed to fall off between DD turning one month to two months. My body had recovered from labor and we were BFing every two hours around the clock. For the last stubborn pounds I use the my fitness pal app. I allot for 500 calories a day for BFing and then I just track my calories and keep active with running, biking and walking with the baby. The weight has slowly been coming off with no hit to my supply. But also at 2 weeks PP your body is still recovering and I'm sure you didn't even get the green light to work out yet from your doc. So don't worry you'll get there!

I joined weight watchers at 6 weeks pp. You get a bunch of extra points for nursing (14 extra!!!). I've been making sure to use all of my daily points so I know I've been getting enough food. My supply has not been affected at all, and I've lost 5.6 lbs in two weeks!! I've also been walking since 3 weeks pp, but until 6 weeks they were slow and short walks. Now I walk for about 2 hours a day.

It's definitely going to take longer than a few weeks so don't worry. The only safe way to loose weight is diet and excessive. And I don't mean diet like restricting foods or counting calories obsessively. Make healthier food choices and you can have all the veggies and fruit you want. I'd wait 6 weeks at least to start any exercise

2 weeks postpartum and my weight loss has stalled out. I still have 30 lbs to lose! Of course I don't want to compromise my supply, but I'd love to start taking this weight off even if it's a super slow process. I think part of the problem is that im always nursing or doing skin to skin, so my activity level is very low. What did you do postpartum to start shedding the weight? I'm giving myself some slack until 6 weeks pp, but then it's time to do something about it!
