We have a metal gate and its pretty close to our large woodstove (used a primary heat source- so a HOT wood stove) and the gate never feels hot.

There is a wooden version of the North States Superyard. We have it and it's really good quality, plus you can attach it to the walls on either side rather than assembling it in a circle.

@JLC53: We actually use metal gates around our wood stove. I had the same concern about them getting hot, but surprisingly, they only get warm to the touch even though they are pretty close to the stove. As long as they aren't touching, I don't think the air actually conducts the heat well enough for the gates to get really hot.

Well, its official, I have a crawler. My husband and I would like to do some child proofing over the long weekend. I feel like this has been at the back of my mind for awhile now and I have been pushing it off. I saw someone else post about safety gates and instead of hijacking her thread figured I would start my own...

I have a wood burning stove in the corner of our family room that I would like to block off with a gate. We use the wood burning stove all winter. I noticed that the more sturdy gates are metal and I fear they will get hot when the stove is really warm. Any other options, maybe wood, that will work for a corner?

Thanks!
