Hehehe I think it's a little overboard, but it's okay - better safe than sorry, I always say :D

I think if he is still in control and watching the trail he doesn't need the strap.

I actually removed the wrist strap from our stroller because it was annoying and in the way.

@Amelieisme: I'm 100% on your side!!! DH and I have this argument All. The. Freaking. Time. He thinks it's unnecessary as he's never lost his grip on the stroller, I say it's better to be safe than sorry. I'd hate for his first time to lose the grip on the stroller be when it rolls into traffic so why take the risk? I always wear the strap, even in the shopping centre as it's just habit and I feel much better about it. DH is coming round as well and will use it whenever we're outside.

I completely understand where you're coming from and hope you can convince your DH to just humor you a bit when it comes to your LO's safety! That's definitely not too much to ask!

as much as I want you to win because you're the wife/mom and I know how smug my DH gets when he wins HB battles hahaha I would say it's not entirely necessary unless going downhill like other pp's said. I've never worn the wrist strap either.

Thanks for the input guys...looks loike hellobee has spoken. My husband is very smug with his little victory : )

My family can be a little hyper-vigilant so it's nice to have some outside perspective. He just is the "nothing bad is ever going to happen type and sometimes I feel like he is too lax with it.

@mrbee: we were still on the trail. It's sort of silly but I just think its better to use things as intended.

I only ever use the strap going down hills. I've never had the stroller get away from me on flat ground unless I very purposefully push it hard.

I'm not a runner, but we have a couple of strollers with straps and I don't wear them. Probably wouldn't either if I did run.

I'm a runner and honestly running with the jogging stroller has never been my favorite thing. It screws up my rythm. I could not run with the stroller strapped to my wrist it would drive me nuts.

If i am running in an area without traffic stops, i wont wear the wrist band. Traffic stops and downhills are two reasons to wear the straps...but if you guys are just slowly jogging, then i can see why he doesnt feel the need to wear it. But i would be annoyed if he was next to the stroller, even if it was a jog.

My DH actually wanted me to post this after our little "argument":

Yesterday we went jogging (slowly) with our new BOB on a flat paved bike trail (not on the road) but there are 2-3 spots where it crosses traffic-heavy streets. Anyway, I have a broken finger (from a recent fall while running) so he was manning the bob. I told him to put the safety strap on his wrist but he didn't want to saying it was unnecessary and annoying on his wrist. He says he likes to be able to switch hands and swing the free arm, which the strap inhibits. He was also running to the side of the stroller so he could look at LO. I got angry saying he should just wear the strap. I figure they put it there for a reason i.e. stroller gets away from you and ends up in traffic. He stated "that is as likely as getting hit by lightning on a sunny day, but okay..". He proceeded to call me neurotic. Anyway, we wanted you all to weigh in. I figure it's a low cost safety measure, so why not just wear it? Thoughts?
