Luckily people don't ask me to do things for them. HAHA. The last thing I helped with was niece's 1st birthday. I asked SIL if she needed help. Figgered it was the nice auntie thing to do :)

People know that I have enough to deal with and have never asked. And if they did, I would just say no. We have people offering to help me out more then asking me to help them.

My Mom was a SAHM and I know at least once my sister and I started going to school she would help out her WOHM friends. But I can't imagine asking a Mom of an infant or toddler to run errands for you while she's watching the baby, I'm sure it's hard enough for her just to leave the house and run an errand for herself! The only situation I think I'd be okay with is if it was picking up a few things for a neighbor from a store I was already going to or somehting.

If I feel such requests are unreasonable or more than I can handle, I flat-out say no. Taking care of a baby *IS* a full-time job...And if people don't realize that and are ignorant enough to assume my being a SAHM means I have more "free time" then they deserve a no from me. HOWEVER, if I *AM* available and I do not mind at all, then of course I'll help out whoever I can!

My family goes way out of their way to help out friends and family so that's how I was brought up and it's hard to say no when someone asks for help.

But now that I'm home more (I do work part-time but most of it's from home) the requests are becoming a bit more time intensive and from those I know less well.

Have you experienced this as a SAHM that people see your time as less valuable and how do you deal with it?
